So glad they kept the magazine scene in the show, still think the game performance was funnier but was still endearing in the show

The game scene is kind of funnier due to the fact that Bill is still alive and Ellie sneakily stole all this stuff from him, I think the tradeoff is worth it for the amazing story we got due to the change to Bill's story in episode 3, but still it does kinda detract from the fun in this scene when Bill won't be missing this stuff and mad that Ellie stole it. Also though, I thought the show actually had a subtle improvement on the game in the magazine scene. In the show, Ellie briefly looks at Joel, then back at the magazine, before talking about the pages being stuck together. You can really see the cheeky plan forming in her head and see that she's just deliberately fucking with him when she says that. In the game she's just looking at the magazine and you don't see her think before she makes that joke.

@@snapgab Its so weird though because in the game Ellie is able to steal all that stuff because Bills place just has shit lying everywhere. That's why she gets such a random collection of stuff. Her stealing also feels somewhat justified because he was such a dick to her. It's her childish way of getting back at him. In the show it kinda feels like she was just rummaging through a nice dead couples belongings lol. It feels a bit more "off" to me.

That’s actually the first thing I saw from the last of us, I saw a clip of it online and it made me laugh so I checked out the game and it looked like something I’d enjoy, one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had

Still think this scene was a lot better compared to the show. Ellie’s reaction is more funny and better acted in the game in my opinion. Bella Ramsey’s line delivery can be very rough some times I don’t know what it is about her. And the whole ambush scene was much better in the game but atleast they made an attempt of it in the show :))

Idk man, but the show just doesn't grow on me. Ellie doesn't give me the same vibes, Joel seems much more lifeless and bored in the show too. Every time I come back to the game scenes I get reminded of how good it just was. I think I'm too nostalgic to the game to fully enjoy the show, because the production quality is certainly there. I guess it's nice for the massive audience that doesn't play video games.

I liked the show overall, but I think it would’ve been better if they had a better cast. I love both Pedro and Bella, but they just don’t own the characters like they should. They definitely feel like cosplays rather than the real characters coming to life. And it isn’t just Joel and Ellie, I feel the same about Tess and David as well.

God, the game's journey was so much better. You could feel how threatening this post apocalypse world is, Joel and Ellie are constantly ambushed by the hunters and infecteds, struggling to survive and barely have time to rest, they bonded through those non stop fatal situations, in a very harsh world, that's why their relationship feels so impactful and memorable. The HBO show has really good acting and emotional scenes, but Joel & Ellie journey is much easier and mostly just walking & sleeping, they dont encounter enemies much, Joel not being a unstoppable wolverine also hurts his core character a lot, i hope they would at least keep the Firefly hospital massacre true to the game where Joel ruthlessly murdering dozens of soldiers to save Ellie.

I feel like it makes more sense, its a post apocalypse, both zombie and humans are not gonna be as plentiful as there are way more in the game just for gameplay purposes, although I do agree on the inevitable firefly fight considering Joel is the reason the group dissolved due to him killing so many members.

Fully agree. I did enjoy the show but I feel like the bond between them is much more believable in the game. Especially when Joel finds Ellie stabbing David and at the end of the game when Joel saves Ellie it feels a lot more deserved and the pay off feels much more earned. No disrespect to the actors but Ashley and Troy just perfected it in the game
