Marie Antoinette’s niece, Marie Amélie de Bourbon, was a Sicilian princess whose life was marked by the events triggered by the French Revolution of 1789. Little did she know; one day, she would become Queen in France.

Maria Carolina must have been so devastated to lose her closest sister in the French revolution. I just learnt today that the last queen of the French was her daughter. Such an informative and lovely video, like always.😊

Lovely soothing voice you have. French history is so fascinating. Full of twists and tragic turn of events. Maria Amalia was destined to be the queen of France, though not marrying the dauphin, she married Louis Philippe. Thanks for sharing about her.

@Io Credo Of course I know this all , I was talking about the visible incest that happened in the spanish -Habsburg line , through too much intermarriage , which let the last spanish king of that line, become mentally disadvantaged , as well as impotent, a thing that led to the war of the spanish sucession, what then ended up in the inheritance going to the Bourbons of Spain , instead of the Austrian Habsburgs .

She was an empress not a queen -Eugenie empress of the French was of Spanish origin with a streak of Scottish in her veins and lived into about the 1920's I believe.

Forgive me but I find it hard to sympathize with people, Men and Women, born into privilege and wealth, raised in luxury and who lived their entire lives living off the work of others, including Slaves and victims of vicious European colonization. My sympathy lies with their VICTIMS - the Poor, the working class and the oppressed. THEY lived lives Misery that these pampered Aristocrats engineered! The real tragedy of the French Revolution was that ANY Aristocrats survived!!!
