The ending made it seem so goddamn hard that he was in some sort of heaven considering that most of the people there were dead. It confirmed it for me when Tex appeared and even more when Tom handed off his duty as captain. I now understand that that probably happened between seasons 2 and 3 but I thought it symbolized that the rest of the living crew would take care of everything he was clear to rest. Then it panned back to him in the water and I started screaming for him to swim up. I finished it a few years ago, and loved every season. 1 and 2 were obviously amazing, 3 was the best imo, and 4 and 5 were just as great as 1 and 2. Still salty about Tex’s death, he was the best side character in the entire show and no one beat him even after his death. (Maybe wolf, he was a complete badass.)

I really don't know what happened with season 5. it felt rushed. They killed off several long time characters unceremoniously. It ended so abruptly, with no aftermath, or epilogue.

I hated the part where they killed off Tex and the doc. They were my fav.. im just glad both Green, Wolf, Kandie, the XO made it with the capt! And Gator too! 😍

some people dont like season 5 but i love it...the season is less about the state of the world and more about the state of the people who went through the events of season 1-4. It shows how the pandemic affected the soldiers emotional states and how they were all going through a dark path mentally. To me the state of the world feels like a second story to the main story of Tom Chandlers ongoing mental battle and the season finale was to show he had finally freed himself of the beast within him. Im sorry but that is far more beautiful than boom boom bang gang world war 3 story....

many years have passed. Still, I always like to watch the Last ship. I also think Eric Dane is very good in the role as captain. I love this character to do the right thing with his struggle deep in his soul. You don't get a role like that very often. It's time to watch all seasons again. It is like a good book that one always enjoys reading. But I also say that the 5th season does not do justice to the writers of the whole series. In my opinion it would have been better to give the show a more dignified ending. I think it's good that Tom Chandler has found his peace and ...maybe a life with Sasha and his kids.

One of the best TV Series I dearly love so much. Watched this before the Covid-19 outbreak, so feel a little bit creepy. I love Mark "McSteamy" Sloan, but I love Tom Chandler even more. Yes, Season 6, please, TNT. I beg you.

I knew i recognized him from somewhere. I stopped watching grey's anatomy its too sad every episode someone dies. but i the seasons with mcsteamy made it funny and enjoyable. Plastics team moved to the navy.

the 1918 pandemic was a near blue print repeated 102 years later. The cities that didn't lock down tightly were hit the hardest. It was particularly true in the U.S. - where the virus originated in Haskell, County, Kansas - and then was spread around the globe by our troops. Sometimes, we sent infected troops because the war machine needed bodies. Cites who left restaurants and public transportation open, like Philadelphia and St. Louis, had more cases and deaths. The economy came back decently because we didn't have a global economy with as many inter-dependencies as today. We (USA) is rather undisciplined today, and this will go on for 15 - 18 months, ore more. I was a scientist at NASA. Good luck listening to politicians. We do need a Commander Chandler. Americans will, most likely, kill many of themselves simply due to stupidity.

I was thinking about this show the other day. I knew there was a show that was similar the corona outbreak, that had a Navy ship in it. I never watched it past a few episodes. it also reminds me of Battlestar Gallactica.

I just finished The Last Ship and it is one of the best series I have ever seen. It should in my opinion be up there with all the other big shows. The end was so well done and beautifull. I only disliked season 4 a bit. But I would love another season or anything that plays in this story maybe the story of another department of the Armed Forces fighting to this mayham like a team of Marines.
