Based on feedback, I implemented the new Release Monitor segment with clear labels for extra transparency. I think in this week's episode it's a bit unnecessary since I very obviously don't have any of the announced products myself, but going forward in weeks where I show newly announced products from a launch event or filmed in the studio, I hope the extra transparency will be worth it. Let me know what you think about it!

The US has a problem with double standards that harms customers and damages trust in the public. If foreign social media companies are going to be subject to increased scrutiny, then private companies in the US should also be scrutinized. Consider this: if a private US company can engage in unlawful behavior without consequences, how can we be sure they won't partner with foreign actors in exchange for money on the down low? With increased scrutiny comes an even greater responsibility of holding every firm in the industry accountable, not just the ones that suit us. Mark already got away with just a slap on the wrist for that Analytica fiasco.
@theworldoffun8997

yeah double standarts are not really fine with me. And some people say that China bans american tech too, so it's okay and it seems just right, but when you get into it, then.. google just didnt want to keep their data inside of China, facebook and twitter too, but LinedIn and many Apple services complied with their laws and work just fine, so yeah, these are real double standarts US holds against privacy entruding software

You guys are missing the point, if US companies are found doing anything illegal, they can and most often are subjected to lawsuits and legal action even if it was malpractice from the government. In China, however, there is ZERO penalty for doing so if exposed. Do you guys understand the nuance?

They didn't seem to be too distracting, clear enough, don't obstruct the content for too long and more transparency is always appreciated, there is a component of trust tho, we just have to believe what he is saying about having received one thing or the other, but then again, these are just videos, if you are considering any of the products mentioned you should do your own research (beyond watching different youtubers since they all might be under the same sponsor program)

I speak only for myself with what I say here. The labels don't bother me. However, they are unnecessary to me. I could care less what a company gave you as long as you're being honest and fair in the review and other opinions and statements. Transparency is good, and I certainly do appreciate it. However.... The problem is that the people abusing the situation would have no desire to be transparent. The fact that you're trying to be transparent makes the actual transparency meaningless to me. Simply put... your "transparency" should be your honesty and character. If someone has a problem trusting your content... why watch? Just to complain? Sounds like their problem, not yours. Stay honest and fair, and then there's no need for those labels. Maybe just explain vocally what the company has or hasn't done for you. That way, you get to be completely transparent and make the trolls have to find something else to complain about while not annoying your subscribers.

Possible solution: showing those checks but them move them to a more compact format onto the top right corner after a second. Something along the lines of R:✅ A:❌ P:❌ S:❌ for example

Yeah, WhatsApp & Signal are like a farce from a privacy standpoint: Insecure device using closed-source radios to contact proprietary network hardware, to send all your "encrypted!" data to/from a centrally administrated corporate network that's beholden to government agency NDAs, with user-data as it's main source of non-investor income. Even decentralized networks _designed_ to resist adverse influence, have significant vulnerabilities; these corpnets couldn't provide true privacy if they tried.

I didn't have a problem with last week's ad/story, thought it's a story, and you also happened to have a discount deal with them. I liken it to an affiliate link for product someone is reviewing, and from watching the channel over some time, know ebikes are your thing. So I suggest just adding disclaimer in the description if a story involves a product for which you have an affiliate link or sponsorship.

glad to see you taking feedback and working to improve on your mistakes! the transparency monitor thing is definitely a good idea and fits with the reliability we expect from you, but as others have pointed out it's a bit distracting in its current iteration. since you needed to move it around to prevent it from covering text, maybe you could put it in a horizontal bar at the top or bottom of the screen? it'll stay in one place, making it easy to tune out so it won't be distracting, won't cover important parts of the footage and is easy to find if you're looking for it. should make it quick to edit too (copy-paste everything in at once, change icons if needed, no need to move anything around)

Long time subscriber here, love your videos. Kudos to the added transparency but it's distracting in the current format. Suggest that you try: - Showing only when a segment is associated, no need to show "X". - Use icons instead of just a tick and X. - Have the labels appear at the same location every time. It's more habit-forming and in the long don't people will know without being distracted.

Quick correction bro. At 4:11, when pronouncing numbers with decimal, you say all numbers after the point as single digits because everything after the point is < 0. So instead of saying 1 point twenty five(1.25) it's actually pronounced 1 point two five
@chefnyc
@chefnyc 3 ай бұрын
And it’s the same way in German. But French, Turkish and Hungarians would say “twenty five”. So probably word-by-word translation
@localblackman427
@localblackman427 3 ай бұрын
You can say twenty five, but you're supposed to add the "tenths" or "thousandth" and so on at the end If you say "point" you list each digit after individually. So "one point two five." If you say "and" you can say the number as a whole number but include the identifier. So "1 and twenty five hundreths" but most people just drop the hundredths. The worst thing people do is say "four thousand, six hundred AND twenty-one" which is wrong but everyone does it so it's "fine" Edit: when it's a combination whole number you can say it either way (in english)
