Wow! When I lived in Thailand almost 25 years ago, none of this was here. Soi 71 was a real working-class dump without a farang in sight. Now it looks like a swanky foreigner hipster ghetto.

Thank you for watching my video. It seems like 25 years ago, it was around the time Myanmar immigrants started coming to this area. The first time I learned about this area was when I came to look for a Myanmar restaurant. Since then, it has become an area that has undergone tremendous changes over time.

@@MaeilBangkok Soi 71 was definitely a very poor and seedy area back then. Clearly not anymore! I do have fond memories of eating Isaan food in a very small, dark restaurant a little ways up the soi. There was this dark, savory stew made from organ meats, intestines, etc., as well as varioua salads (prik). I wish I could remember what that stew was called. I have never had anything like it since. I am sure that restaurant is long-gone by now.
