I’m the mother of young adult children and have watched in amazement as my daughter and daughters in law are naturally being drawn to the doctrine of the divine feminine in the gospel. It’s amazing. I grew up where the divine feminine was a false doctrine associated with weird new age beliefs and witchy practices and so I love how God is restoring truth.

Thank you for this presentation. It, along with many other KZfaq videos, can help to better understand church doctrine. My hesitancy comes when, in trying to gain deeper meaning, one expands established church doctrine. It’s a difficult differentiation to make at times and I think the discussion of the Devine feminine is particularly tricky. So very little is said by our prophets on the matter and often when scriptural evidence is presented, it’s done so with confirmation-biased lenses, reading into scripture what we want it to say. I completely agree that we must search the scriptures ourselves and that if we are only relying on what other people teach us, we are woefully unprepared. However, prophets are given us for a reason, one of which is to prevent us from wandering in strange roads. Speaking personally, I’ve seen those who have grabbed fast to a Heavenly Mother and, instead of it bringing them closer to their Savior, it has driven a wedge in between them. To a person, they will state that they feel a confirmation from the spirit leading them, yet the fruit of this quest exclaims otherwise, from an unhealthy fixation on Heavenly Mother to praying at times to Her and more. So, my question, how do you keep within the guardrails of revealed church doctrine as we know it only comes through the prophets? It is extremely rare for them to use the term Heavenly Mother. Is this not a guardrail for us? Other than knowing we have one, so very little has been revealed concerning Her.

This was really helpful in a lot of ways. It makes me feel more peaceful about the way I am different than men. I recently heard the phrase, Partaking in the divine nature. I have thought about that a lot, but after listening to this podcast, I am wondering about my more specific feminine divine nature....like how to embody the divine nature of Heavenly father and Jesus in general and more like Heavenly Mother, Eve, Sarah etc specifically. Thank you! I am excited for the book too!

This is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing this podcast. I'm really bummed I missed the other speakers. I appreciate your content Megan...I feel like I am on a journey to heal A LOT of my false beliefs about being a woman, especially a woman in the church or just a christian in general. So many of your episodes, and many of your guests and peers have been helping shed light that its even possible to expand my mind about the role and value of women in God's plan more than I ever realized. Thank you for this, and I am very excited about your "special announcement"...yay!!

I would like to hear more about why the commandment to not partake of the fruit only applied to Adam. I’ve reflected on it a bit but can’t quite get there.
@lddisciplespodcast
@lddisciplespodcast 22 күн бұрын
Hi Orson - I recommend revisiting the accounts of the creation in Genesis and Moses. You’ll note that the command to not partake of the fruit is as given to Adam before Eve was created. His commandment was to not partake. That command was never given to Eve.

I went back and read and can see what you are saying as far a the timeline but then Eve says “2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. How do I square that the commandment didn’t apply to her because of the timeline but then she acknowledges that god said they “shall not eat of it” Is that the Mormon church interpretation? Thanks for the clarification.

Great question! Of course this is only my opinion. But women very often tend to adopt masculine standards because that it was is taught and incentivized in this world. I imagine the same thing happened to Eve. That the commandment was given to Adam, but she was taught it by him and adopted it as her own law even though it wasn’t meant to apply to her. In fact, her stewardess-ship to give life required her to eat the fruit. Failing to do so would have perpetuated stagnation for both her and Adam. We see the effects of this all the time in our world today, where men and women are often spiritually imbalanced - feminized men and masculine women becoming a norm. Unless we perceive the unique gendered spirit we possess, and own our stewardships as women and men, we will be stunted in our spiritual growth. I don’t represent the LDS church, these are my personal beliefs. Thanks!

I have never heard many of the concepts about masculinity and femininity that you are teaching here, and wonder why the Brethren aren't teaching them. In some ways they resonate but they aren't taught in the temple either. How are we to test them? I beg to differ on what you said at the beginning, that Heavenly Father isn't concerned if we aren't moving forward on the path, (my interpretation of your statement). He mourns when we don't make choices that would allow us to live with Him again. I'm concerned that there are so many members on KZfaq teaching principles that aren't taught in conference nor in any other setting of the church.

Hi Lane, thank you for your feedback. A few thoughts: Elder Bednar in "Prepared to Obtain Every Needful Thing," from May 2019 has said: "We should not expect the Church as an organization to teach or tell us everything we need to know and do to become devoted disciples and endure valiantly to the end. Rather, our personal responsibility is to learn what we should learn, to live as we know we should live, and to become who the Master would have us become. And our homes are the ultimate setting for learning, living, and becoming." If something resonates, we invite you to explore it with the Lord. If it doesn't, that's ok too! There is no pressure for all of us to learn at the same pace, and I don't pretend that what I know is 100% truth. I agree that our Heavenly Parents are often mournful over the world (Moses records God weeping), but I believe the scriptures indicate that God's grief is because of our failure to love and esteem our fellow humankind. I no longer believe our Heavenly Parents to be disappointed Parents. They invite us to grow in light and truth, as They did, but They do not shame us when we choose otherwise. I believe we make God our Parents in our image when we suggest They are in a state of perpetual disapproval of Their children. These may not be helpful thoughts, and I apologize for that! In all things, counsel with the Lord. We each should cultivate our relationship with Jesus Christ directly to know what is truth and what is counterfeit. Thanks for watching!
