For my baby plants, I use clear Boba Tea straws as moss poles. I cut them once vertically, pack in moss (and a couple large leca balls to keep the straw open a little more). This works great for me because it takes longer to dry out and it's super easy to make. I can even stack the straws on top of one another if I need to extend the poles.

Wicking rope is typically made from nylon. The outer part of the rope is braided nylon, while the inside (the wick) are made up of loose nylon fibers. If you take a piece of nylon rope and two cups, fill one cup up with water and set the empty cup right next to it. Put one end of the rope in the empty cup and the other end in the cup with water. The water will wick and move to the empty cup.

Your lazy pole basically a pole with air layering benefits. Absolutely love it. I would like to try it but I'm too lazy to even make this lazy pole 😂 And few days ago i saw a clear pipes at materials store, immediately thought of your lazy pole. I think it can be the level up version of your pole, but we need to cut it in half or make an opening at the side.

I've never found a moss/coco pole that I like. But this is super intriguing! Some ideas to make it umm, more lazy...... Get a cheap paper trimmer to make it easy to trim the plastic sheets and get a straight line too. Punch two overlapping holes so you don't have to cut the velcro in three.

I really like the clear plastic lazy pole! It looks so much better, plus holds in the water, plus directs roots to stay in the pole. I like too that you can reuse materials--need to try this soon. I can totally relate to the "overwhelm" feeling when faced with a big job like repotting that glorious. I like how you talked yourself through it.

LOL🤪 I have made my moss poles just like yours before watching your channel , they came out as a result from a failed attempt to make a plastic back and mess moss pole ( the plastic I've got its very stiff and was an impossible mission to bend ) , my plants were already growing large and imagined they would take forever to start attaching and also did not wanted to put it to my smaller aroids and wait the eternity . So several of my plants are growing happily in lazy poles . Glad I am not alone

What i do is i tie my climbers to a pole and then each node I enclose them with plastic cups(cut them half but still attach, then tape it back or anything just to close it back) then put some sphagnum moss inside the cup. I let the bottom part of the plant to attach its root to pole to mature then the upper part I enclose them with sphagnum.

I have a couple of moss poles, couple pieces of wood wrapped in coco fiber and a couple with just a wooden board. The plants seem to really really love just the bare wood. The moss is ok but they don’t attach nearly as well or as quickly, the coco seems like it isn’t working at all though. I didn’t seal the wood so they will definitely break in a couple years from rot but I’ll deal with that when it comes and seal the future ones I guess 😂

Tree fern fibre is next level as a growing & propagating substrate! I feel lucky to live in New Zealand where both tree fern fibre & half moon poles are readily available for reasonable prices… That being said our selection of rare plants is quite limited as our bio security laws are very strict :(

@@unplantparenthood the only company I’m aware of that supplies fern fibre (FernwoodNZ) hand selects the logs from privately owned forests here in NZ with government permits. They only take 1/5 of the Punga (fern) available & the forests are inspected by the government before and after harvesting. Also the forests are actually classed as uneconomic farmland that are reverting to forests so even better!

I heard about tree fern fibre compressed moss poles as a new thing from a US podcast recently, which was intriguing! I’m in Australia and we don’t have tree fern fibre easily available which is interesting, considering how much old growth forest is (often illegally) logged. However, I have a couple of soft tree fern dead logs out the back I picked up from the side of the road so hmmm. It is likely to break into bits if I’m not careful with cutting it, but not likely to fragment into fibre easily either. Hey apparently “sustainable NZ sphagnum moss” easily available in Australia isn’t so easy in NZ? If so that’s wild...

I will neverrrr go back to regular pole! And it’s great because the strips can always be reused for new poles. The lazy poles that I’ve added strips to have pushed out root growth from the aerial nodes significantly faster than the ones that don’t have them!

I just use plant poles and sticks to support my tall plants and trellis for trailing plants. I try to keep my plant care minimum work as much as i can. Trying to juggle with work, house chores and cooking takes alot of my time. Weekends i spend my plants more. Your perlites looks big i hope i come across a bigger version and less fumes aswell. Your sister looks pretty she looks different do she look like more of your dad? You look more like your mum. Any tips on how to to make roots grow longer? I have these plants that i order that comes in these annoying plugs as there roots are not established. Thanks. You should not worry how you look in the camera too much you are adorable i feel if i was talking directly at the camera I would feel more shy but if you are working on something while filming i feel less pressured. I have watched other vlogs while they are in there pyjamas and no makeup making videos.
