I’ll be real, Ultimate isn’t very fun to watch competitively. I found myself constantly checking my phone during top 8 during almost every match. Also, top 8 too nearly SEVEN HOURS. A best of 5 takes nearly 40 minutes. Melee top 8 took less than half the time of ultimate top 8

@@davidc. If you must know, then no I actually love having an annoying egocentric heel around. For example, Leffen is a large part of what made the melee community so fun. Zomba was mostly just the straw that broke the camel's back. One day he was doing his usual Zomba boasting thing and I just had a moment of introspection and wondered why I was watching this kid go off about how cool he is instead of literally anything else. He was also one of like 4 very active, top-performing Rob players at the time so that was kinda annoying too lol. Also, it's not like I stopped following smash. It's still my favorite game to watch competitively, I just don't go out of my way to catch tournaments live. I mostly just watch vods of my favorite players' sets and Coney's recaps like this one.

Zomba pulled no major tourneys in 2023, is playing a chara that is less technical and mentally taxing than some of his contemporaries, and won probably moreso due to ring rust against ROB. Leffen was interesting because he was a consistent threat to the five gods. Zomba rarely scratches top 4, it was just a childish callout.
