Random chess question: Is it worth giving one of your bishops in a trade off with a knight in order to mess up your opponents pawn structure? For some reason I almost always do, but it doesn't always turn out good. Guess it mostly matters on the situation, but in general, is it good or bad?
@eran99999
@eran99999 9 жыл бұрын
It always depends on the situation..
@johannvonbabylon
@johannvonbabylon 9 жыл бұрын
AZCaveMan480 If you're white and doing a Ruy Lopez you should unless you absolutely know where your bishop is going when the pawn moves to kick it. A bishop pair is a powerful thing but bishops are more easily trapped.
@sage5296
@sage5296 5 жыл бұрын
Doubles pawns aren’t always even bad. If the position is closed, a knight might even be better than a bishop. All of this depends on the situation. In openings like the Nimzo Indian, white usually trades the bishop while in for example the Ruy Lopez, white usually does not.

I would recommend to the presenter that speaking in the condescending way that he does is not doing the children in the audience any good. Treating them as capable is preferable. If this is not a lecture for children I do not know how an adult would tolerate being spoken to that way. This is simple criticism, and only my opinion, not a personal attack for the sake of attacking.

+pop9095 Yo Yasser is like the least condescending person that I've seen he speaks so gently, He was mainly talking about the players and he showed them respect, and he showed respect for their moves. So I don't catch any of what you're saying.
