yes, I have a PPro "speedrun" coming up, (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rJeHjdiIrs_cYqs.html) and yes, premiere bugs are the #1 cause of lost time. Here are the others, in order: NLE crashing and bugs Errors while rendering Noise, especially other people talking, in the room where you are working Not having all the necessary footage from the very start. Unorganized/unlabeled footage People interrupting you, especially when “in the zone” Not watching or noticing errors upon initial export, having to fix and re-export. Not understanding or knowing the limitations/quirks of your NLE. Use quick mask in photoshop as an example.

@TaranVH
@TaranVH 5 жыл бұрын
No setup has been found for it yet, and no run has been done yet. Pretty sweet, though. I didn't do a good job of making it clear in this video that WW SD and WW HD are totally different games. I MIGHT make a sequel to this video once we have SD barrier skip in a few runs. But I've got plenty of other stuff to do -- I'd give it a 10% chance that i actually do it ;P
@NotNite
@NotNite 5 жыл бұрын
@@TaranVH A 10% chance is good enough for me. This is a surprisingly underwhelming achievement - I went into Narcissa's Discord (person at the very beginning of video) and nobody really seemed to care. This is really cool to see, though, because it means SD now has potential to be the "better" speedgame.

I just find it funny that runners use the most random languages to run Zelda games because they happen to be the fastest. You'd think they'd all be run in Japanese like most games but nope. The idea is you see a game mechanic and you go what happens if i do this unusual thing with it that the devs most likely didnt think of and you find a glitch as you can see they took several existing glitches that they knew about and combine them in unqiue ways also sometimes they find glitches to be inconsistent thats because they may be pixel/angle/frame perfect or close to pixel/angle/frame perfect meaning you have to be in an exact position have an exact angle or input on an exact frame to do it thats why we have programs like dataviewers and tas they help figure out the exact positions angles and frames that make the glitches work once they are discovered

I always get goosebumps at 5:50-6:00. I think it’s something about the building of the Great Sea music, combined with the sword sound, the awesome final blow, and the sense of all the love, talent, and triumph that went into this run. The speedrunning community never fails to impress me.

Now the next big barrier to get passed in Zelda is the Death Barrier surrounding the Great Plateau in Breadth of the Wild. And just like Wind Waker, there are 2 barriers. The fog surrounding the plateau; and the Death Box around the perimeter. Good luck to the speed runners.

An explanation for why any% is dead. Any% means that the goal of the run is to simply beat it as quickly as possible. Before barrier skip, the runs would be close to 5 hours at any%. However now with the barrier skip, old runs are obsolete. Barrier skip is so difficult and precise, there's very little that can be done to beat the current world record.

That plus it seems a lot of the any%ers moved on to different categories once they realized that 80-90% of the techniques they developed for their runs were now completely unnecessary in any%. Basically, it's almost a complete waste of their talents to speedrun the game like that and skip most of the difficult sections.

If you are doing barrier skip in any percent, you have to do a glitch where you hover while dead, and pray to God that the two faries will revive you. Since they fail to do this 90% of the time, almost no one attempts this run. It's a huge time waste to execute everything perfectly only to have the finale of the run dictated by RNG
@sh4dowde
@sh4dowde 6 жыл бұрын
No, you've got it all wrong. People watch speedruns because you need skill to obtain world records. This new trick is pretty much 100% RNG based and watching some random dude get WR out of pure luck is not very entertaining to watch and makes the category pretty much dead. And watching the skilled players failing over and over and over again because of RNG in a VERY LONG speedrun is pretty boring too, so this is why any% is pretty much dead and the good interesting runners are now at all dungeons. RNG heavy routes are only interesting for TAS. Gymnast is not a random dude, but it could have been any random guy. The thing is, you get WR just for getting luck with the trick, not for good execution. So 99% of the runs that are on WR pase are doomed.

I don't get why people care so much. To me, it sounds like breaking games down so much to the point they they are no longer games, they're just a series of inputs that gives the desired result in the least time. It goes completely against what I believe the purpose of games to be: enjoyed for what they are. Different strokes for different folks, I understand that, but it's just not for me because I don't find any enjoyment out of it and it even has the potential to remove the enjoyment I once got from any given game.

People enjoy the puzzle element of discovering these skips. They enjoy the thrill of executing them flawless over the course of dozens of minutes or even several hours. They enjoy attaining the skill required to execute them. Really though, the appeal I feel comes down to the same reason people enjoy competitive sprinting and any other form of race. Doing things quickly makes you feel powerful.
@needamuffin
@needamuffin 7 жыл бұрын
It just comes down to how people approach games. I would never look at a game like a puzzle or something that needs to be picked apart to such a granular level, but some people may. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
@bennifez9741
@bennifez9741 7 жыл бұрын
needamuffin Think of the reasons why people become athletes. The effects are similar. Speedrunners enjoy a challenge. You practice hours upon hours to hone your skill. Sure, most of the time running is very punishing, but the rush you feel once you achieve your goals makes it all worth it. Not to mention competition can be very fierce which adds to the thrill. On a side note, speedrunning, to some people, seems like it's all just simple "hold-right-to-win" scenarios but there are usually a lot more to it behind the scenes. Manipulation, technique, glitches, RNG, complicated and/or frame perfect inputs, strategy, skill; the list goes on. Also we're humans. It's impossible to do the exact same input perfectly every single time. You're bound to make mistakes at some point. But when you do slip up (not too badly where you're forced to reset) or the RNG isn't in your favor, that's where the skill comes in to play. My last point is most speedrunners speedrun because they love the game (or love seeing it get destroyed) and enjoy seeing how fast they can complete it.
