I couldn't remember the name of the show for years, but I definitely remember watching it in primary school. Takes me back, for sure.

Every time I watch Father Brown on TV (BBC) I remember this story. The music was written for both Father Brown and The Legend of the Lost Keys by the wonderfully talented Debbie Wiseman, and you can hear some of the same tunes in both of these programmes! 😊

I love the Look and Read series. Back in the early 2000s when I was a kid at primary school, every Friday afternoon the teachers used to show us the series on video. It was always a great way to end the school week. Some of the stories we watched included Sky Hunter, Badger Girl, Geordie Racer, Through the Dragon's Eye, Spywatch and Zzaap and the Wordmaster, but my favourite by far was Legend of the Lost Keys, such a great story. Watching these programmes now, nearly 20 years later, I feel so nostalgic, nowadays the educational sections aren't really interesting, but still they bring back a lot of great memories of those old school days, and those Friday afternoons, wonderful times.

I used to love Badger Girl that was one of the Look and Read stories my old class teacher introduced us to during the summer term of 1999.

Lost Keys transcended the series though. It was too good to have been released under the L&R banner. In fact, it’s quite confusing that they decided to present it as such. It was far too adult, fleshed out, and narratively compelling for the much younger demographic that L&R was largely geared toward, and the educational bits simply hurt the series’s momentum during its initial broadcast. It was the follow up to Cant’s Dark Season & the spellbinding Century Falls. It deserved better

This would have made a great Doctor Who story, just imagine Tom Baker & Sarah running through the tunnel in the end to close the portal, it certainly has that feel about it, I love this story, such a great drama and perfect in every way. I'm so glad that makers of this kept the theme on a serious plain, so many great dramas get ruined when comedy and nonsensical gags get thrown in, it just ruins the whole vibe, not to mention being damn annoying too!! I love that sense of fear and dread and the incidental music is brilliant in building up the mood of the story. It's a real pity this isn't available on dvd, I would buy it without hesitation.

Lol that would be horrible. It would make this story terrible. This story was great because it was a Colin Cant production. It has nothing to do with dr who

I never got to watch this all the way through, the lesson bell would ring before anything substantial had happened. Last night whilst talking to friends I suddenly remembered it in very vague detail. Once i found the name I was so happy to see this uploaded. I have now finally finished watching it :)

In the original end of each episode, it just shows the BBC logo and the year it was made whilst repeated in 1999, the endcap was updated with the BBC education website included. Shame the old 1988-1997 BBC logo was no longer used at the time of its broadcast, it would be a thrill though.

I came across this purely by accident, I'd never heard of or seen this story before, all I remember is the brilliant "Boy from space" and "Dark Towers", but I have to say that despite the corny dialogues and some hammy acting, although the late and great Andrew Sachs is brilliant in this, ( but that boy is a bit annoying at times), I really do like this one the best. Love the dark atmosphere and tone of this story. I'm not sure how many stories they made from the L & R series (I'm gonna have to look it up), but the more I watch this, the more I love it. I'm guessing this was probably the last story they did, although not 100 per cent sure. I really wish the powers that be would release this on dvd, I would love to own it, as would the hundreds of other fans of the show, even if it is for the sake of nostalgia...nothing wrong in that. School days were never great or that bad either, they were just days, days that you just wanted to get through, but sitting in that Television Room watching programmes such as this was a real treat, and receiving your bottle of milk too!!! But I do hope they release this. THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR THE UPLOAD, I would never have known of this brilliant story had it not been for you, a BIG THANKYOU.

Children's Tv will never be this great ever again... FACT!! Just one thing was never cleared up, what became of the 2 faced Turner, it would have been nice to have seen her get her comeuppance, still a fantastic drama. I hope this gets a dvd release at some point, I'd love to own a copy of it.
