Bill Berndtson about the corporations... Amazon has always had a hand in the CR pie (at least since they took over Twitch) but that working relationship with Amazon is probably the second biggest reason why we’ll be getting more than one season with a high animation budget and probably higher talent budget. The first biggest reason is fan support, of course. It’s the only reason Amazon took notice in the first place. I’m sure that their data about the revenue CR brings in weekly/monthly through twitch subscriptions also had a huge hand in proving to them that this is a project that already makes them money and is worth investing in. As much as it sucks that corporations eventually have the final say, that’s kind of the world we live in. This time the people spoke up enough and pitched in enough that Amazon took notice.

@@ramael3299 depends on exactly what they mean. It's not really a spoiler that Pike is sometimes called a monster. So it's sort of a nick name. The other part that could be a spoiler is somthing that happened before the show started airing on twitch. So it would depend on if you've heard the actors talking about how Vm meet and their first big mission that made them important in Emon.

Yea, I was actually taken aback when coming back to watch this. They look entirely different in the final show, and it's crazy. Part of me misses the more stylized looks of this intro, but I think the final designs are definitely better overall.

Although, I do wonder how many “No Mercy Percy”/ Violent /Gory moments they’re going to include, especially in the Briarwood Arc because tbh a lot of that shit is DARK. I know Grog rips a creature apart in his bit of this, but I still can’t quite imagine these versions of the characters shooting someone’s fingers off or hitting someone so hard in the face their head explodes....

@@darklordaranyx2467 The mighty nein one came first. They started using it as the intro to their streams before the kickstarter for animated vox machina was even a thing. The original video of the mighty nein intro on geek and sundry got taken down and reuploaded on the critical role channel when they split, that's why this video seems to be the older one.

Daggers came first, there is a video called something like 'Making the legend of Vox Machina' and in it Laura literally said she wasn't sure about the Daggers and Cunning part until Ashley Broke it out. It is also easy to know because Travis's hair wasn't grey/as grey as it is now. Hell, there is a campaign video that shows this video, which, the video was made before campaign 2 began, and, Matt said something along the lines of we will return with a new campaign next year/soon.

this comment is 2 years ago but I also noticed that 1. Keyleth is there during the part where the lyrics said "they got daggers and cunning" a nod to her and Vax's relationship 2. The twins are there with the lyrics saying "they don't see over there" which makes sense given the stealthy duo 3. Grog syncs up with the word "monster" while ripping a dude's head into two

They also say "Inspiration is waiting" right before Scanlan, the bard, appears. Also "there's a monster incoming" being over Grog makes sense, because that's like he is saying Pike is showing up! So it still lines up perfectly. I think when they do the real thing, they might line it up (assuming they even keep "Your Turn to Roll" as the theme). Because the character designs have changed since this, so this was like, the equivilent of a pilot I think.

I consider the visual panel of this introduction to still be better than the one we got. It introduces characters much more cleanly than the end result and would most likely have been more efficient than the golden threads. As for the final product? We'll see. Part 1 was very poorly paced and the 3 episode cut like arcane here didn't make sense since we didn't cover a narrative arc but did 1 and started a new one. I'll wait and see.

Just started getting into DnD. This theme was what I heard when I stepped into the room that was to be where my first dnd session was held. I was so confused when I watched the video play on the screen at the time! Like, who were all these characters? Then I found the Critical role series, began watching in hopes of gaining some more knowledge on the game, and now I'm hooked (still far from finishing the 1st campaign). Peter Otto tbh, the whole reason they have to do it themselves is because several companies were too scared to take the risk of a d&d show. Their kickstarter is nearly at $7M and it's been 4 days; that might be enough to get some animating companies to risk making it themselves (with a little support from the cast of course 😉)

I've only been a critter for little over 2 weeks but I'm so glad I started watching this incredible series. I've only just got into DnD at the same time, so it's inspiring my own characters. I got literal chills and goosebumps listening to this. Although I've only watched a recap of campaign 1 and I'm on episode 32 of campaign 2, I cannot wait for the next year and all this content. I started as a critter like a day before the kickstarter went up. I put money in for the kickstarter(Scout level) after listening to over 40 episodes a couple day before it ended. I love Critical Role the first few episodes of campaign 1 were a pain to get through because they weren't fresh characters but I got through it and right now I'm groaning at Scanland's Scury poop and Vax having separation issues with Vex. And goddammit the Vex/Vax name mix up so infuriating whenever I do it

the trailer animation is far better than those scenes where half the objects are 3D animations. Just look at the dragon. Zombies i get, but the dragon was a real let down ... And now, the next season (which is all about dragons) will also feature 3D dragons. It's such a bad contrast in the way they mix 2d and 3d. Thordak in 3D, i'm already getting angry that they will 3D animate my second favorite villain in the whole campaign ...

When I was a young girl an older neighbour boy who was a family friend of ours had his friends over and were going to play DND. I asked if I could play, but one of his friends scoffed and said "This isn't a game for GIRLS" That was the late nineties 😂 To be fair they probably didn't want to babysit a whiny kid but saying it wasn't a game for girls meant I chose not to play until I was old enough to understand that this game is for EVERYONE! No one should have to feel that way. I am currently a player in a very accepting fun West Marches DnD Server called Sanctuary where we have players of all kinds and everyone is welcome. No one should have to miss out on DnD. That just makes me sad. I have to disagree. While the music is iconic the show is well a show which is not centered on DnD elements but tries to be a serie with narrative storytelling. So it would really take people out of immersion during the show.

@@corsicasanova You do know that there are stuff like that in other shows. Goblin Slayer has references to Rolling a dice and it isn’t a DnD world

@@grimshock6983 except in goblin slayer it is part of the in universe lore. While in critical role while the idea is expressed (I think jokingly by one of Taliesin character's) it is immediately opposed by Matt. And the song is specifically about players ("and the dm to guide you")and dices which you see none of throughout the duration of this show. While it makes a great anthem for the actual play, it would be pretty bad for the show. Using a theme variation without vocal as they did during the show was a great addition however.

Julia Roberge Orion kinda left on a sour note and since he created Tiberius, he has control over him. I hope I’m wrong since he is in the comic but don’t hold your breath.
