Percy's lines are more impressive when you know his player, Talisan, improv'd most of them on the spot in the game.

Taliesin as Percy delivered some absolute banger lines throughout Campaign 1- and then there's "Life needs things to live."

Matt’s ability to humanize his baddies is one of my favorite aspects of his world building. I’m so glad he’s gotten to add in scenes like the background with Silas and Delilah that he’s talked about since the end of the campaign, but was unable to show in game since the game is from VM’s POV.

In game, before the game started to be streamed, Pike was a Life Cleric (focused on preserving life). But during one of their battles, she was actually killed. After the fight was over, the party carried her body to a temple and the priests there were able to resurrect her (which is when her hair turned white). Pike went through a transformation from a Life Cleric to a War Cleric. At the start of this animated version of the show, Pike had no weapon, and just minimal armor. She had a holy shield, but played a protective and healing role. But when Pike comes in here, you noticed that she had a mace. She also had much beefier armor. They showed her transformation from a Life Cleric to a War Cleric as part of her finding her true self.

That is the gun Percy calls "Bad News" because nothing travels faster.

What i love is in game pike (ashley) was playing via webcam/zoom so matt was still able to incorporate her role in the game. Patiently waiting for the remaining episodes youre in for a treat. Sidenote i am loving the music especially scanlans songs.

Pike is the Monstah!! The spell she casts on the local's weapons is 'Holy Weapon' It give the weapons bonuses and the ability to do radiant damage which is particularly effective against undead opponents. It is not so apparent in this fight, but in D&D, each round in combat is 6 seconds. Each player (and NPC) is assigned initiative based on a dice role. This determines where they will act in the order of battle. All actions taken within a turn are simultaneous within that 6 second time frame. The interactions between players/NPCs during combat works because actors later in the initiative list can react to events that happened earlier in the 6 second frame. As anyone who has been in a fight knows, 6 seconds is a long ass time. While this isn't true of all the fights depicted in the series, many of them do hold beat-for-beat to the fights as they occurred in the streams. Even if some of the details are different.

It's probably already been stated but Pike joining them as an Astral Projection was to deal with the fact Ashley Johnson (who plays Pike) was filming a show in New York at the time and sometimes couldn't make the game or had to stream from NY while they were all in Los Angeles. What's nice about the show is we finally got to see what Pike was doing in the meantime.

During the actual gameplay, when Vex announces that he loves Keylith, it caught everybody by surprise so much that Marisha shrank into her seat and Matt had to call a pause while everybody recovered from their shock.

What's great about the love proclamation is that it's exactly how it played out in the campaign. It wasn't a discussed thing and EVERYONE reacted with a WHAT?!?! at the table. It's a favorite moment from campaign 1.

Vax confessing his love to Keyleth at the worst time is a nod to Liam O’Brien (his player) always dumping his internal monologues and feelings to the group whenever he thought his character was about to die in game

I'm so glad someone else did the "Secret Tunnel" thing when they went into the hidden passageway, I did the same thing when I first watched this episode. OMG, the finale is amazing, I can't wait for you guys to see it! :D A bunch of Percy's dialogue comes directly from the game, Taliesin (Percy's voice actor) is amazing at improv, he came up with some amazing lines on the spot at the table. I highly recommend checking out the origins of the scenes videos done by a couple of Critters, DAYart and Arsequeef on Youtuve. It will give you a bit of background on the scenes and see how they had to change some things for the series, but made sure to keep key moments the same for the fans. I'm loving your reactions so much, you guys are so insightful. :D

She was actually berating him at the time because he had snuck ahead without them and had gotten himself in trouble (again).

The voice acting in this series is seriously top tier and underrated.

A bit of background info on Delilah: She was a caster before, and not as innocent as she seemed here. She was a high ranking mage of a prestigious school that did a lot of fucked up shit- and she did so much fucked up shit there that they expelled her because even those villainous fucks were like " Okay maybe that is a bit too much"

Idk if you have been told this already but I encourage you to look up Matthew Mercer talking during their wrap up of campaign one, someone could post a timestamp cause I'm currently multitasking or I would, find where Matt tells the story of what Delilah Briarwood had done to save her Sylas. Cause as much as it is shit that they're evil, you can't help but feel for her a little bit.

I don't think there has been a single time in the history of Critical Role that Taliesin has said his own character's full name correctly. (correct me if you have a time stamp please) And it's pretty fitting that he STILL doesn't say it right in LoVM, even when given as many takes as he wants. He never gets the Klossowski part right. It's always Kowalski or Kolowski. "It's a whiskey based pronunciation."
