This show is actually castrated quite a bit, it's all based on a D&D campaign played by the very same actors who play their characters here, it all began as a birthday present for the Vax actor- Liam O'Brien, and it started out as a Pathfinder game, but they switched to D&D around 7th level. Sam Riegel has never played any tabletop games before, and his character Scanlan was born out of a question "what is the worst character that I could make?" to which Liam answered "probably gnome bard". This is actually quite nice to know considered the ending, so keep that bit of lore in mind going forward. Pike being away and then coming back as an astral projection thing is also a solution to a common problem they had- Ashley Johnson often couldn't make it to play with the group due to work, she was shooting a movie at the time, so Matt Mercer (DM) had to improvise with the reasons as why she's gone and how she's back. There's A LOT of content missing from the show and things that got retconned, one person from the group is completely missing due to the drama they had, a dragonborn sorcerer named Tiberius who had an incredible dynamic with Scanlan and Keyleth. I get why the omitted so many things, the campaign took 117 episodes, each was 4h+ long and that's just since level 7 when they started streaming, but it's still sad to see so many great moment being just cut out and ignored, only some of them being mentioned as their supposed memories, like the Rakshasha Vax mentioned while camping... in the campaign it was a menace they had to go to hell so they can get rid of it, because it had a personal vendetta against him.. I would recommend watching the Critical Role campaign yourself, it's great entertainment, however first 10-15 episodes are something you just have to bear with since they still were figuring out the technical aspects of streaming, audio, etc, but it gets better, and then full on pro mode. They're already playing their 4th campaign, in 2nd campaign their group is called "The Mighty Nein" (they have some animations out, so check it out), 3rd and 4th I have no idea since I haven't watched it yet, but they've been at it for years. Sorry for any grammatical errors, English is my 2nd language.

@@ThunderEwokB The problem is that, in my opinion, most people don't have four or more hours to catch up on this show. I myself have no job as a quadriplegic, and I like playing video games and watching TV shows, but listening to them play their game for four and a half hours is very tedious. Don't get me wrong, when I get stuck in the hospital, I like to watch it, but other than that, it's very time demanding.

@@quadphonics I personally was always listening to them on wireless headphones while doing chores around the house, working out or working on the PC, it still took me quite few weeks to get through all of it, but I never found it tedious, quite the opposite, but then again I am a very dedicated D&D player myself, at the time I had a session almost every other day, so I think it just hits different when you're into it.

​@@quadphonicsit is indeed very time demanding. I watched both their campaigns during lockdown. I must also say that the audio and entertaining quality are both much better during the second campaign- if you haven't tried it, I often suggest starting with this one instead of the first one.

​@@ThunderEwokB It's cool to say hey might wanna check out the campaign but you don't have to come off so strong. People like the cohesive simple show and might prefer that to the chaotic craziness of the campaign. It's also way easier to consume because it's 10 hours rather than 500.

makes sense after realising Ripley tried copying his pepperbox, he probably realised its better to not have any paper trailer or remains of how to make his weapon

@@Keram-io8hv I’m not sure, because the Darrington arc isn’t nearly as interesting and slows down (compared to the others), so it’s possible we’ll get some condensing, maybe a slightly longer season 4?

they earned a crap load on the kickstarter the goal was like 790,000 is they earned like 11mill plus they blew up their stretch goals pretty sure they have enough money for a few more seasons even amazon money pretty much icing on the cake as well problably helps them as well.

If it were just his voice then I would be a little worried but there was a lot of overlay to make Thordak sound draconic so finding "close enough" to hide under that should be pretty easy.

@@Ystax He died as a result of Coronary Artery Disease/Atherosclerotic Heart Disease. That is a straight copy paste so I don't know specifically what it means beyond some sort of heart problem.

I wonder what kind of moment could be changed to become the proper "start" of a relationship for them: in the original Vax actually kissed her when he confessed in Whitestone, then he stayed in her room the night after the Conclave attack....then they lowkey kinda broke up after what happened in the tomb, even if they weren't quite officially a thing? I can even remeber what their status was at this point it was such a mess 😅 the show skips most of that by making it more linear, but also making us wait!

We will probably get more Vex & Percy before then.

Knowing what happens in the campaign, this will be a really sad season.
