He has companions and all, but most of his journeys are faced alone, all of his struggles are taken on alone, and he's never seen with anyone for an extended period of time either. The song Deathly Lonliness Attacks is actually very fitting to his character due to his forced solidarity in his different journeys as well as over what is most likely the rest of his lifetime. if anyone else notices, in the beginning of the song, in the small animation of link travelling, he is smiling, and continues smiling, until the end, where he has the stoic quiet look. he remembers who he is, and goes back to being himself.

Wow it made me realise how lonely Link must have felt after collecting all the memories.. all his comrades fallen.. all that he knew now in ruin.. was it better that he didnt remember at all?.. maybe it motivated him to protect those who survived and to save his princess.. im crying.

Sometimes when i play botw i feel the deathly loneliness, especially when i go back to the great plateau and remember, while standing near the fire where you first see the old man, that I'll never meet him, or talk to him again. There's no one on this pice of land anymore, and I'll never hear his giggling again. he's the first person you meet in game, he's like your father. He teaches you how to hunt and cook. And every time i see a fire on the plateau, I for a split second expect to see him standing there, ready to give me a sense of security and comfort, bieng the only source of safety in that once new and scary world.

ゲーム自体はもちろん、この動画もいつまでも色褪せない名作だよね。初めて見た時本当に感動した。全部手書きでこのクオリティは本当に凄い。めちゃくちゃ大変だったろうにそれでもここまでの物を作り出せるって、作品への愛がそれほど深いからできるんだと思う。語彙力無いから上手く言えないけどほんとにすげえ。

初期設定のリンクには妹と父がいたんよね リンクが買った家は元々リンクとその家族の家で100年前の厄災から誰も住んでないってのはきっとどっちとも厄災で帰らぬ人になったからなんだろうね リンクは忘れてるけど少しは胸に空いた何かがあったとは思うんだ 何もわからない、誰も知らないでも大きな使命はあるってどんなに辛くて怖いんだろ インパに出会えた時は少なからず救われただろうし、記憶を取り戻すにつれ、自分には仲間がいたって安心してたのかもしれないって 泣いちゃうですよ でもティアキンには帰れる場所があるってわかって嬉しいですなぁ

Coming back to watch this again after the release of Tears of the Kingdom because this is still a wonderful music video even after 4 years. ✨

このMVを何年も前に見かけたのが最初でした。 当時は未プレイでした。 ティアキンがやりたくて、 前作のブレワイもやってみようと思い、 ゼル伝シリーズを初めてプレイしました。 始める時にこのMVを思い出し、 ブレワイをクリアしたら もう一度見に来ようと決めてスタートしました。 そして終わるのが寂しくて寄り道をしたりと、 なかなか終えられませんでしたが、先程やっと決意をしクリアすることができました。 ゲームを終え早速閲覧しましたが、 昔見た時とは全然違う印象でした。 細かい所まで描かれていて、 「あー！こんなシーンもあったあった😢」と感動と懐かしい気持ちになりました。 (のんびりしすぎて、気づいたら2年ほど経過してました(苦笑)) やり残した事を終えたらティアキンに進もうと思います！ 素敵なMVをありがとうございました！

When you think about it, Link lives the toughest life out of everyone, even before the calamity. He was born fated to be a hero, and was blessed with unrivaled swordsmanship, but that means he will never face a true challenge until he defeats Ganon. He was forced to cast aside all emotion and wellbeing to toughen his heart in order to serve his duty. He grew up not knowing Love, only training for his final challenge. Then, he met people like him, the pilots of the Ancient Beasts, and he was able to sympathize with them. He found love and acceptance with them, along with freindship of which he was able to find in Zelda. He was finally able to open his heart. Then, Calamity happens, and when he next wakes up, all those friends are dead, except Zelda, who is trapped. Link has to come to terms with being alone again, along with knowing he failed his duty to protect Zelda. Breath of the Wild is less Link saving the princess, but Link completing his duty he was tasked with 100 years ago. It's a story on how Link has to redeem himself and avenge his friends that he lost by laying to rest this evil that has plagued the land. Well, that's just my take on it.

As I was watching this I started crying with the sudden realization of how fitting this song is for him... After it ended I immediately went to play botw trying to pretend that me playing would be like giving him company

Oh my Lord this is gorgeous. Just reminding me of the Botw story made me tear up. This perfectly sums up the game and the feeling I had playing this game!

I wish this played whenever I booted up BotW on my Switch. Also, I wish I had a friend who knew nothing about BotW that I could show this too and have them try to describe what the game is like just from this. And then have them play the game.

全てを失って自分だけが取り残されて、その事すらも忘れてしまっていて、記憶を取り戻す度に失ったものの大きさに気付いて…… それでも新しい出会いに支えられて、ゼルダや英傑達の100年分の期待を背負って世界を救う旅をするんやなって リンクの心情を思うと涙なしでは見れない……

今更だけど 0:45ハイラル王が消えて爺さんの方も消えんの好き

All of the animations and visuals got me thinking about how sad I would be if I was in Link’s situation. I mean alone day in and day out, knowing that the fate of everyone rested on my shoulders. Well the point of this rant is just I think this really helps to develop Link’s character of having a kind heart and strong will. If you think about it Link is an amazing person for pushing through all that he endured in this game.

原曲の歌詞の感じからしてブレワイクリア後のリンクって感じがする。かつての仲間が亡くなってしまったことをすべて思い出したリンクの孤独さがより伝わってきた。 こんな素晴らしいmadを作ってくれた米雷さんに感謝しかない。

1世紀を超える再び復活する厄災とそれに対抗すべき英傑達、その結果は無謀に終わり100年間封印されてて目覚めたら当時の皆は亡くなってて…物語が壮大すぎる、そして切なく意志を継ぐ者、英傑の力と共に厄災を倒す。最高だよブレワイ

This kinda made me realise how sad Links Life is, I WANNA HUG HIM SO BAD, HE NEEDS TO BE PROTECTED ;-;

This might be silly, but the transition from horse to motorcycle really got me. Link is using his friends to get stronger, and is abandoning his old ones as he stops needing them. It really helped hammer in the point of the song.

I love how BOTW starts off with the usual quest of "It's your duty to save Zelda and the kingdom" like all other Zelda games. But then after you figure out who you are and gather your memories, you fall in love with your friends. And this becomes a much more personal quest for vengance. He goes from being the hero who saves Zelda and the kingdom, to a friend who saves the champions' purpose. Making sure their deaths were not in vain.
