This is a video walkthrough / playthrough / runthrough / etc of the NES game Zelda.
In this runthrough I try to get everything I can before I attempt the dungeons. You'll notice by the time I enter the first dungeon I already bought the blue ring and have acquired the white sword.
I have studied and based the video off of Lando_Kashmir's guide over at GameFAQs. It's not totally based off it since while testing out the guide, I did notice a few errors I had to overlook, but nonetheless after reviewing his guide and taking various notes (and drawing on a map I saved to my computer) I was able to essentially make a path of where I needed to go and when. His guide was pretty much spot on except for one or two little points.
I'm sure there are better ways of going about the dungeons. You'll notice before getting the master key, I end up with quite a few extra keys that I never bothered using...I'm sure I could have shaved off a bit of time by not bothering with them, but oh well....I do make sure to get all the compasses and maps though.

Certainly one of the most groundbreaking: it was (1) free-roaming, (2) able to save your progress, (3) a second quest after you beat it the first time, (4) beautifully orchestrated, (5) containing an inventory of weapons and items you could switch through, and I may be missing other things. Long live the Legend of Zelda! And rest in peace, SaikyoMog.

Thanks, and yeah, quite a bit was put into this. I've had this game (the gold cartridge version even) since it first came out, so I had quite a bit of practice. I don't normally play the way you see in the video (I tend to do a few dungeons first and then go about snatching things up). But when I saw this one item guide, I thought I would base my video off it. I studied it, and drew on a map I found showing me the path I should take...In the end everything worked out.

If you type in Zelda for your name you can start the second quest first. All the locations are mixed around and presents more of a challenge for those that have beat the first quest. The dungeons in the second quest have walk through walls also in some of them.

I don't know you Jeremy, but man, I wanna let you know that you made a difference in someone's life. Rest in peace my dude. I hope you're having fun with your dogs up in heaven. Thank you! The next best thing to playing this is watching someone! I used to play it when it first came out and I was 23. Many long hours happily spent. I remember drawing maps in pencil of each of the level rooms in my spiral notebook. I died many times at first, until like you, I mastered it without dying and my Link icon had the sword to show that without all those numbers of doom. I know the gaming world has advanced drastically, but I will always treasure those times in the 80's playing Zelda and Mario for days on end. xo Edit: I just read of Jeremys passing. How very sad. I lost my son at age 23 and he was a master gamer. I started this very game at the age he would die. Life is hard. My condolences. :(

Always fun to re-live my youth with these walkthroughs. I like how you got as much as you could before starting the dungeons. The only thing I may have done differently, is instead of going from level 3 to the east end of Hyrule to get the heart container needed with the raft, you may have been better off just beating level 4 since it was close by, getting the ladder, and only needing one trip to the east end to get both heart containers including the one on the dock. Would have saved some travel time.

Ah yes the gold cartridge. I also got it when it first came out, and my brother got ghosts and goblins. We were both too young to get very far in either game. When I was old enough to beat those types of games, I had already been spoiled by "Link to the past". I have never actually taken the time to beat this one. It is enjoyable to watch though. I never knew you could get so much before even the first dungeon! 8-]

Jeremy probably knew that, but I was not aware. It is hard to imagine Robin Williams ever sitting still long enough to play a video game. Thanks for the comment. Jeremy's Dad

R. I. P. Just want to say a big thanks for this. I finally beat the game just now. It was fun. This isn't a bad game once you figure out what to do. As a kid I didn't know what to do. Didn't have the net or game genie. That helped also. I pretty much watched this while I played the game at the same time. Not going to do the second quest. I will play Zelda II eventually. Need a Zelda break. I am done with this series after the second game. I pretty much did what he did.

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Jeremy would have been glad to hear that another fan of the older games had watched. I thank you for the kind RIP. Jeremy’s dad

It won't be my next one. It'll be a bit since I would need to draw out a new path on the map and so on and so forth to use while I play. Actually, my next game should be Legendary Wings for the NES.

+SaikyoMog I cried. Cried hard. I'm just an ordinary retro games lover. Finally met the guy behind these awesome walkthroughs. Only to discover you left us. You lost an unfair battle. You left us with incredible vids to enjoy till the end of time. I will enjoy them as long as I can. I hope that my pleasure watching your video's will give strength to your closest relatives. How? That they will know you live on. You are remembered. Even overseas. And one day, we will play these games together...

+Rob Werts Rob, This is exactly what Jeremy was hoping for. He was brave and not afraid of dying, but he was worried about being forgotten and his work lost. That is why I have continued to upload slowly the remaining videos he left behind. Hearing from someone like you is very gratifying and gives me hope for Jeremy's legacy. Thank you very much. Jeremy's Dad
