Saw him live as a kid. My grandpa talked about him constantly. We kinda bonded on Salvador. Felt personally robbed when he went. Imagine the era and how he would've fit in? A rematch with Azumah, maybe some wars with the dudes from 130, and then a fight with Julio at 135 around 1988. For all we know, he coulda been the best ever.

Every time I watch a video on Salvador I feel an overwhelming sadness. What a titan of the sport. I hope that he's still training with all of those passed on greats in that neverending squared circle in the sky.

He moves like he's floating on air and he has the most calm mannerisms and expressions I've ever seen on a fighter. Even between rounds he seemed distracted but still managed to fight masterfully. The fact that someone this skillful and technically gifted was only 23 when he died is beyond astounding to me, he looked like he had the experience of a 35 year old but we never even got to see him fully develop.

Complete fighter! Offensively, he could do it all. He could be very slick at times, had an A+ chin and THE best stamina I have ever seen. My 4th favorite fighter ever.

If it weren’t for his untimely death he might’ve went on to be the greatest boxer of all time. He was only 23 and had wins over Danny Lopez twice, Azumah Nelson, and Wilfredo Gomez. All by knockout.

Wilfredo Gomez simplemente no pudo con el contragolpeo y la condición física de Salvador Sanchez. Es una lastima que Salvador Sanchez falleciera tan rapidamente. Su muerte parece injusta.

The great Savador Sanchez, what an incredible fighter. The encounters with Danny Lopez, Juan Laporte in the battle for San Juan, and that soon to be great Azuma Nelson, I saw them all as a kid on World of Sport on Saturday afternoons. Great days never to be forgotten.

It's absolutely amazing to watch this and then realize he was dead by the age of 23. That means it's possible he could've become even MORE dominant in the ring. I've heard Roy Jones say he regards Sanchez as one of the two or three best fighters ever, and who could argue.

I remember watching his fights as a kid. I’ve been a fan of the sweet science all my life and have admired many guys over the yrs - Dwight Braxton, Hagler, Pac-man, etc are the the type of fighter’s fighter that I like - but to me Sánchez was the greatest of them all. He is the James Dean of boxing...a supernova that was taken from us way too early.

He made it look so EZ.... Tears are falling from my eyes just to see this guy in action..

Losing this great, great complete package fighter is one of boxing's biggest tragedies. He out boxed the boxers and out slugged the sluggers and no one seems to talk about his underrated defensive skills. Had he been able to reach his full potential he would have gone down in history in at least the top three all time greats if not the very best. Wow! He was a complete boxer! Nice fast well timed pumches that could actually fimish a guy, not to mention crisp head movement and footwork. I'm sure he would've held on to the title for a long time barring his unfortunate/untimely demise.

Sal Sanchez... some of his opponents belive they had a chance to beat him when they connect him on the first rounds, but when the fight gets old and they watch the same expression on the face of salvador with not a single trace tiredness is when they abandoned all hope of victory... they only see a machine coming for them that cannot be stoped.
