I always stop here and check it out on my way to HB or NP . I ride a p51 but never try to ride those trials because I don’t wanna mess them up and cause I know how much work goes into making jumps like these happen. Respect to the people I see there all the time keeping and maintaining this place

These kids have no idea what we put into these trails... hucker was in diapers when I first hit fence pack, the town hall meetings we all attended, the fight we put up for all of you to have this amazing place, go there, water it, build it, keep it alive, we fought for it, you can maintain it

I grew up riding the gully(what Costa Mesa locals called Sheep Hills) in 1979...lived 2 blocks from there on Towne st.in South CM.The original track was located farther up the hill,where they had eventually built over and relocated closer to the bird sanctuary by the Santa Ana river,closer to HB.The jumps and berms were more spread out and not very well developed at first,but developed quickly once BMX became more than just a specialty racing niche market prior to Mongoose making the sport main stream.It would not be a lie to say that BMX is what it is today because of places such as this,many do not exist any more after decades of development.That is what makes this place so special,because it is an iconic piece of BMX history from it`s earliest days,not just from magazine covers,but was also used extensively in R&D from companies that were(and some still are)cutting edge in the industry.Before the word BMX was coined,we would call it gully hucking,which did not exclude 10 speed bikes or beach cruisers.

I remember when I was 9 years old shredding my bikes every time. We used to call it the Gully but great times. Glad they cleaned a lot of it up

I went there with my buddy who got me into bmx when I was like 13, now almost 27 and still ride. I’d love to go back and check it out sometime. Didn’t realize all you guys hung out there

My buddy went to the hospital from doing this single jump called like PO something. It was just a single jump but was pretty big. I hit it then my other buddy and then my next friend pulled up too hard and wheelied down the shit. Landed hard on his back which ripped the tendon off his arm and chipped a bone fragment from his shoulder. We were in 8th grade 2005
