Also remember how the catchy song was used to immediately distract the robots as if to signify that our complacency with hearing the same song over and over forever makes us "robots" as well. It also doubles as a statement on our music industry, and how every song being played on the radio is essentially the same song. It's repetitive, catchy, simplistic, and doesn't require any brain power whatsoever to decipher the lyrics. How ironic that it won them Best Original Song without even being nominated for Best Animated Feature. I'll never understand people who think of The Lego Movie is clichéd. People don't seem to realize that those very clichés are an intentional play on film clichés altogether. Great vid.

I wouldn't exactly call it a hidden meaning? I mean sure, most people seemed to miss the whole instruction manual stuff and putting 2-2 together. But "hidden"?

I get pissed whenever someone says "that's a great song" or uses "honey, where are my paaaaannts?" As a punchline. It's like if I used "ow my balls" as a punchline (idiocracy) and actually meant it to be funny. I don't get it -_-

supermanadamio sounds deep but even that is a cliche in itself. just saying something objective about yourself or other people shouldn't be fantastic, brilliant or exceptional. it should be the norm. well, the depressing part is that it is exceptional, in part proven by everyone jizzing every time when someone values truth over his self image. hahaha, also, do you have to be a weird alien with an eye-stauche to have the right to speak truth about people?

I actually thought the movie was about finding a balance between the group and the individual. the master builder regularly dismissed or insulted Emmet for not being as "special" as they were, but they lacked any real ability to cooperate, resulting in a barely functional submarine. The fact that they even got into the tower was thanks to Emmet having them make something "normal".

I'm frustrated by the way you force me to realize how unintelligent I actually am. You make it clear that I am unable to find greater meaning and depth in anything, without having it explicitly laid out for me. I'm unable to avoid the reality of my own inadequacy, and my life has become fundamentally changed. I feel like my life has been a sham, and that I can no longer be certain of how I interpret anything in my life. I hope you can live with the fact, that you have undermined my entire understanding of who I am, and that I am now in a state of existential crisis.

Thank you for expanding on the satirical wonder of this movie. Every time I tell coworkers or friends that the Lego Movies is the best piece of post modern satire to ever hit mainstream media they don't understand. It's unfortunate that so many audience members fail to realize the allegorical similarities to the real world in this movie. Great job analyzing it.

Don't forget the countless references to the Matrix. Also, am I the only one who could relate to lord Business right from the start? I like order, I like it when things make sense and when people do as they're told. Sure, free will is nice, but the world they lived in in the beginning of the movie seemed perfect in every way. Productive, controllable, and very importantly: happy. Even if it was because everyone was 'hypnotized' by that catchy song. But then religious extremists came by and ruined everything. Note the word extremists. They seemed happy, but you try to be productive when everyone tries to be a distinct individual, while also being a team. That's contradicting itself, and thus will result in chaos, and nothing productive getting done. I don't have anything against religion, and that's coming from an atheist, but I really think that if only president Business didn't plan the whole TAKOS Tuesday, everything would have worked out even better. But hey, that's just a theory. A FILM theory! Thanks for reading! (Someone please link MatPat to this comment, I wonder what his opinion on this is).

you can be an individual and be part of a team . i wouldn't want my team to be made up of carbon copies of someone. then nothing really gets done because all the ideas would be from the same angle

+Nixel The thing is that in this situation people happiness rely on the will of someone else. Sure being yourself might be harder because you have to work for your hapiness, but at least you know it won't vanish on the whim of a capricious individual.
@coopsdogg6925
@coopsdogg6925 8 жыл бұрын
+Nixel Thing is, with this kind of system, you're relying on the benevolence of one man (President Business). Sooner or later he or one of his successors will ALWAYS be corrupted by the power of the position and do something tyrannical. Second, as someone else mentioned, being an individual does not preclude working as part of a team, in fact teams function better when made up of diverse people. The key is moderation - don't be such a good team member that you blindly follow the group and lose your own individuality, but also don't be such an individual that you are incapable of working as part of a team.

Kind of...Emmett is more of a middle ground between the individualist Master Builders (Who don`t know team work because are too into themselves) and the Fascist, Kragelist, Buisnes who is a perfect opposite to the MBs. Brikowski is the special because he can see both sides and more (specially after his trippy 2001 style death and resurrection). He makes the dialogue possible, which is what saves the world in the end, Metropolis Style, almost. So I see that there is an implicit critique towards "complete individualism" in the movie...Yeah, something like that

There is a point that is missed here. The underlying message in this movie wasn't about embracing your individuality exclusively. If that were the case then any one of the master builders would have been a better choice as a hero than Emmett was. What really set him apart was his capacity to embrace his own individuality while also working in a group and adhering to a plan, which the master builders absolutely rejected. In both the main story as well as the real world sub-plot, the ultimate resolution came when a compromise was reached at the protagonists found a common ground.

Garyx's jokes are so fire. I want more Garyx, I've watched all 60 of the Earthling Cinema. I want him to do Interviews, or have a podcast. Its funny to have him rip on the planet as a whole, but also slightly misconstrue history and names and places as one might if earths history had come to the past already. The concepts behind this show and the writing is awesome. You got a sub out of me, and I'm telling everyone I know.

This show is WAY better than thug notes, and the irony is that i myself fall more into the "thug" social classification than the "nerd" social classification. Regardless of this i find this serie very intertaining, i binge watched all the earthling cinema videos when i first discovered wisecrack
