There were a few things which were left unexplored, like the fact that Penny was able to beat the hell out Leonard at chess after one lesson. To me, that was a hint that she was something of a latent genius, and the reason she hung-out with these guys was that she was, at her heart, in her element. I think that's supported by her relationship with Zack, which was doomed at the outset by her inability to tolerate stupid people after dating Leonard.

Pride my self on knowing good acting, the best acting moments in films and those moments that just hit every emotional string in a person's experience and knowledge of life and I am quite old now but that moment back when we first heard Penny say to Leonard "You know I love you" and his quietness, shock and so much wanting to hear her say that and then Penny's realization of what she just said, gets me every time she say's it. For me who for the whole of the secondary school in the UK back in the sixties I had a very strong crush on a girl called Jane who like Penny was totally out of my depth and saw her date boys and then guys with cars when we were in senior school. By pure fluke she was dumped by a one of her girl mates at our weekly school youth club evening and asked me to walk her home and I did, it was bliss especially making her laugh and so much did I want to reach out and just touch her hand. The time it took to her house was only 20 minutes but I was in heaven until we were outside her house, I wanted so much to give her a good night kiss but started to say good night, to my surprize she grabbed my hand and pulled to the side of the house and gave me the deepest snog and cuddle up to that time I had ever had, every thing about her was magical, the way she felt in my arms, her perfume, the sweetest of lips and taste. And then we heard "Jane is that you" and it was her father, and she rushed in, I have never hated any man as I did her father for breaking that moment but I ran home jumping and hitting the air with joy. It never happen again, we never spoke of it and she went back to going out with older guys. I never saw her again and no idea what happen to her after school but when I watch this clip and even though Jane did not say she loved me, the fact she kissed me like she did I know what Leonard is thinking and absolute joy and happiness he feels. Thanks to her she gave me such confidence that best looking girl in the school would want to kiss me like that. I am not that good looking, flat nose due to cliff fall, and went quite bald at 23 BUT had a great number of beautiful girl friends, two became wives and one a long term girl friend who had kept a list of all the men she had known up to the age of 39 and told me I was the best. I don't say to show off but to say to any quite good looking girl or any girl that knows she has a secret admirer (not a pest) just a little bit of kindness, some guesture that is special to him or if you one moment a single kiss - could change their lives as Jane did for me and is why when Penny says "You know I love you" at 67 and now a right grumpy old bugger it brings a few tears of joy to my eyes.

Love this show, but I find it interesting that Bernadette didn't want kids and then had them, and also that Penny didn't want kids and then had them. There is no doubt that they love their children, but I think it would have been a little more progressive to have one of them stick with their original sentiment. Both pregnancies were unplanned and it almost made it seem like because they didn't choose directly to have kids before having them, then it still counted toward the growing acceptance of women not inherently wanting children while still fulfilling the wishes of the fan base. With that being said, the situation is based on real life and truly amazing lives can be led by and from surprise children. :)
