I believe it has to do with the shifter style used. The vehicles with this motor with the old-fashioned PRNDL shifter all have the recall. The LS 500 and LC 500, which have versions of the same transmission but feature monostatic shifters are not part of the recall.

This kind of stuff is why you should never buy the first year model of anything, regardless of brand.

Im an owner of a 2023 Toyota Sequoia. My Vin is part of the recall. My vehicle has never creeped in neutral but i will go take it in to get it handled and keep it moving. Not a big deal still love my Sequoia 🤷🏿‍♂️

I am a bit skeptical about it only being a software issue, as it has to do the ability of a clutch to disengage. A workaround may be accomplished with software. A "sticky" clutch? Notice the recall cites the "design of the brake clutch", not a software glitch or sticky solenoid. I wonder how many of the affected transmissions have been built, and are awaiting host vehicles, or in built GX's?

The 10 speed transmission in my 2023 tundra is a borg Warner transmission if anybody was wondering I’m assuming the same in gx550.

The GX 460 are now are super high demand and will continue to rise in demand. the new GX 550 is having engine issues too, metal debris in the engine. The interior is so cheap and the hoods are fluttering at 60 MPH. The GX 460 is tank!

I drove a 13' 4 runner for 9 years, waiting and waiting for a new redesign 4runner or gx. And some more waiting, then I saw the way Toyota and Lexus was going.. Newer isn't always better. Sure The new design on the outside looks pretty cool. But you can tell they made everything cheaper on the new GX550, plus only time will tell the problems with the twin turbos, electric steering, etc.. So I bought a 22 GX 460 Luxury.. It may be an old design, but it is refined and simple and works.. It is new to me.. :) I purposely didn't want twin turbos, electric steering, infrared scanner to see your hands and face paying attention.. When this came out, it made me even more glad I bought the last days of the Old style.. I also didn't want a land cruiser size.. The new GX550 are way bigger than the 460.. I like a medium nimble suv, never wanted a full size suv. Plan on driving this till the rapture.. There is a lot of joy in just enjoying and living with what you have instead of always coveting the next thing you don't need.. I would have been just as happy keeping my 13 4runner.. But thought this is the last upgrade before they change things so bad I can't adjust them.. Along with the way they are going with RF radiation in vehicles, magnetic fields, etc..

Guess I’ll just buy the 2025 outback re design when it launches in fall. Or, wait a year for lexus to get the kinks out. Wow

All we were asking from lexus was to put 10 speed tranny to the old but proven V8 and a new design. They did an awesome job on exterior design...the rest is due for evaluation

Wow… I will say this is why I wait six years to order a LEXUS… as far as TOYOTA is, I stopped purchasing Toyotas in 2019 because the buying experience here in the United States and the ongoing maintenance here in the United States is absolutely horrible in my opinion I will watch the 2024, the 2025, the 2026, 2027, 2028 and probably end up purchasing a 2029 that should pretty much have it fully loaded with all the options from all three models and all the glitches and bugs will be worked out, if not I’ll just drive the 2023 GX 460… I will say this in my opinion the six speed transmission in the 2023 GX 460 is at the top of Mount Everest along with the eight speed transmission in the 2021 LX 570. Those transmissions are bulletproof in my opinion.🇯🇵❤️🤍

Disappointed, but to me it’s not a huge deal. I haven’t experienced this issue and have failed to replicate it on my 22 Tundra. Still loving our 22 GX, though. TBH, I’m not interested in the GX550, too costly for what it is & the 460 still exceeds my needs/wants.

If you want a reliable Lexus go old Skool , I think Lexus is in a transition with these modern software dependent mechanical devices ⚙️. They are trying to balance traditional ICE based technologies with HEV to EV.

How about land Cruiser 2024 Prado 250 ? It appears LC 250 2024 I Force Max is better option then granted we have not seen it in action so far.

I bought a 1st year fifth gen 4R, and a 1st year, first gen, Tundra. I lucked out and had no recall outside the airbag in the 10, or warranty work. Today I would be worried about buying a 1st year vehicle due to the complexity.

Say, your facing a Cliff with your New GX550 and you dont want to go over the Edge. so, you put the Shifter in Neutural to Backup,,,, Oopps,,,, Can you still file a Lawsuit against LEXUS for Damages to the Vehicle and the life of the occupants???
