I've had my g6 longer then any other phone. I have a 1$ clear ebay case on it. It's been dropped so many times, it's accidentally flung out my hand across the pavement, it's been fell on, sat on dropped on. It's been completely submerged many times and I'm currently typing this on that phone. I've never had one problem, crack, chip or scratch. Best phone I've ever bought hands down.

Now do this with s8 what will full destroyed on 1 test.

The only difference between gorilla glass 3 vs 5 is that it has less scratch resistance than 5. It does not have a difference between shattering. It's another smear campaign for no logical reason in my opinion.

should this surprise anyone a all glass phone cracks when dropped,just put a case on it and be done with it!

My G6 lcd crack on first fall. But lg change it with a waranty, so it is all good

OtterBox Commuter. I have dropped it off the back of a lifted truck onto concrete (while helping someone move) and it showed no damage other than a small mark on the case corner. Absolutely fantastic.

I dropped one of these on tiny rocks or gravel by accident. The whole front screen cracked just in one drop and now I got it fixed and have a otter box defender case

so basically if my phone slips I must sacrifice my body and beat it to the ground before the phone does to save it.

Dropped my G6 from less than 18" on to a wooded floor with wooden substrate. Shattered the front screen, back has no damage. First without a case/cover, first with broken screen. Repairs fairly easy, but I am fairly device savvy.

i legit dropped my lg g6 once on concrete, at least 7 times on hard wood, and once more on concrete from the top of my suv and all it has is a hairline crack on the very top which is barely noticeable and black scuffs on the corners. when i get my case it will cover the edges but if i want to fix the screen, ill have to go to a store.

People who drop phones as many times as these test should opt for a cover. And secondly was this a indirect AD for the samsung galaxy s8. Saying the G6 is not good in drop tests and hence one should go for a S8. Targeting subconscious?

Well I dropped mine on the subway platform, then it slid a few feet and fell in the rails. The front glass broke but is still very usable, the back doesn't even have a scratch.

I'm watching on my V20. Picked up a G6 yesterday. Probably will resell it for a profit. The durability of the V20 is awesome.

That's why I hate glass backed phones.. Everyone is following this trend ...Look at the drop tests of lg v10 and v20..They didn't cracked for like 10-20 drops...Metal is definitely better but I think even plastic is better than glass because atleast it is durable.. They are destroying the durability of phones just for fancy looks and wireless charging which is useless as it is not truly wireless..

Put a case and screen protecter on it. The case will protect the back and raise the corners up a big so the glass screen does not hit the ground. A screen protector will make the screen a little bit stronger

Gorilla glass 3 was used beacuse it is more scratch resistant, and on back you won't bother of scratches so they used stronger GG 5

You need to do these tests inside... For me i never dropped my phone outside. But inside my house .. oh boy. Bathroom, Livingroom, Stairs, at least 100 times from shelf next to my bed.

I unfortunately was dumb enough to forget my M8 on the top of my car. It had gotten run over with studded tires but the screen survived, although I had an excuse to do a color conversion as the back was looking nasty lol.

I dropped my G6 a few times and and the glass is perfectly fine.

Well I have dropped my LG G3 accidentally like 4 times and it has gorilla glass 3 and the screen survived somehow, and I am considering getting the G6 and hopefully not drop it that much, but from my experience I am confident that the glass will hold since there is a really small chance of dropping my phone face down, it usually landed on the side.

@3:30 Regardless of what phone you drop, if you drop it from that high, it is bound to crack or at least show signs of cracks.

This just shows how much phone case and screen protector matter. I have had my LG G6 for over 2 years and legit accidentally threw it directly onto cement (dumb story) and have dropped it multiple times on cement from about 3 feet. Only the incipio case was damaged but I have a liquid screen protector on it that insures the screen for $100. I've found it to be extremely durable with the case and screen protector combination.

Dropped mine off my knees, less than 2ft, in a case and screen cracked. Replaced it and less than a week later happened again onto a carpeted floor in the case and it cracked. Would be a great phone if the screen wasn't junk, and it's not covered on the warranty.

The glass is so thin the glass hardness is not relevant (in a drop test). The back is easy to replace (watch vids just on that), and the phone kept on working even at the end.

Just put a damn good high class case on the phone,when any phone drops like that they break!

Thanks to all the phone reviewers who went on and on about how covering a phone with glass was so beautiful smartphones today are under crap and fell drop tests from every angle.

Gee.. good thing they make quality cases.. if anyone uses a phone this nice without a case deserves for every bit of glass to shatter..

It's a shame, I've used both the s8 and the g6 and while the stats say the s8 should stand up to better damage, it feels more slippery in the hand and you wouldn't want to risk even a slight slip, so the frequency of drops would be higher than the much easier to hold g6. And if you take good enough care of your phones with a solid case and tempered glass it should be in pristine condition for a while.

I dont know if this video is real or not i have a G6 and have dropped it over twenty times from hip to chest height and not a single scratch im also not using a case. I think they frigginwhip it on the groind and use jump cuts this phones a beast in all aspects of its durability its ip68 water resistance rating is also a huge understatement, ip68 being rated at 30 mins in under a meter of water. But real shit you can freeze it in water overnight use pressure washers on it and drop it in any fizzy drink you can think of and it will be almost perfectly functional after. The waterproof stress tests people have been doing themselves to this phone are crazy if i had the money id try a 72 hour challenge

Cnet, if you will drop test a phone, please use a new one every method for control purpose. because the structure is already compromised when it broke the 1st time. thus making it weaker and weaker after every other test.

should have used 4 or 5 g6 for all the tests. one injury contributes much to the other.

The first test was dropped in a more stressfull position for the screen whereas the other tests were dropped horazontially with less stress on the phone. They should have done all the tests the same.
