Wrestling Lists Presents The Life and Death of Chyna
Joanie Laurer's achievements in wrestling should never be taken lightly.
The first woman to enter a Royal Rumble match, the first woman to enter the king of the ring, the first woman to hold the WWF Intercontinental championship, 2 womens championship reigns and an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame along with Degeneration X, Chyna really was a trailblazer in professional wrestling, as cliched as the term now is.
Chyna's professional career, however, was deeply mixed in her personal life. While presenting herself as a strong, dominant woman on screen during her last days in WWE, inside, Chyna was hurting and breaking down. It wasnt until just 1 year before her death that she revealed the particular circumstances of her WWE departure.
One of the true big stars of the Attitude Era and an example of what can be achieved when we deviate from the standard, this video looks at the life and death of Chyna.

As far as I'm concerned, Chyna was well on her way to being the "female" Hulk Hogan. There was NOTHING like her on tv. The reality is starting off as a female "body guard" was a perfect entry and her ring appearances and persona could built her into almost a super hero type character. It's unfortunate this didn't pan out how it could have. She was greatness in the making and I am glad WWE Inducted her into the Hall.

Triple H was already a multi time WWE Champion before him and Steph became a real life couple. He was already main eventing PPVs and all so I don't accept that when people say that. He was well on his way to being a star back to when HBK took him under his wing in DX. Triple H earned his spot

@@sx2ap I agree with you 100%. Everybody thinks just because he's married to Stephanie McMahon that it's the only reason why he was a star in the wrestling business. That is not true. He would have accomplished just as much with or without Stephanie McMahon. He might not have been the one to take over WWE after Vince McMahon retires but he still would have been one of the greatest and a legend in the business

I legitimately loved Chyna. It's extremely rare for me to care about a celebrity the way I care about Chyna. Every time I hear about her passing, it's painful. When I was a kid watching her, I thought she was amazing. She made me think I could do it too. I don't think WWE ultimately realized what they had in her, and they gave/have given so many other wrestlers numerous chances that they didn't give to Joanie even though she didn't do the stuff they did. Playboy is still adult content, so I don't know what they were on about regarding the videos that she'd have never made had they not treated her so badly because of Hunter's ambition. Anyway, I so wish she'd had real friends to help her. She'd have been a great coach to female talent in AEW today. AEW's Jade said that she loves Chyna and sees herself in her, so it would have been amazing to see Chyna coach Jade. In any case, women like Chyna paved the way for the Jades and the Rhea Ripleys.

I honestly think she might have been better off, let's face it WWE/WWF is toxic and yeah while it provided us with some great memories look what usually happens eventually to the stars from their brand. They fall by the wayside and are kicked to the curb or forgotten.

@@SpookySammy right she took a teaching job in Japan to get away from the toxic WWE/the drugs/and get out of the porn industry. Sadly I think that she never really did completely confront her demons with her drug addiction and depression and that was so much of what led to her suicide.
