Dragonball Fighterz was good. X-Men Excluded. MvCi was a cash grab. Fate sealed on those alone.

Marvel vs. Capcom was one of the 1st arcade games that I played. Man, I miss arcades. MvC2 is my most favourite game of the series.

I play Krillin in DBZF for the "Throw random pebbles at your enemies" Function. No fighting game is complete without it.

Good thing MvC infinite is flop. With garbage quality of that game, it shouldn't allowed be on big tournament like evo. I really miss UMVC3. Despite many people claim unbalanced, it is still fun to watch and the cast is really interesting

It's not just Capcom's fault though. So much of the game is obviously just a cashgrab with the MCU and their characters. Especially the exclusion of X-Men characters. It was basically a jab from Marvel not wanting characters they don't own to be in the game.

People confuse graphics with art style. Mvci has decent graphics,like particle effects and energy beams etc. The faces and overall art style however of course are bad. I blame Disney and Marvel for trying so hard so sell the bland generic mcu art style to an audience and game that never needed it

It speaks volumes that this game managed to die without gameplay being brought up in the video. It goes to show just how important support for a game is, and how important it is to listen to criticism, even if you've made a solid game with solid mechanics, it doesn't mean much when you rely on solid mechanics and ignore everything else a game needs.

The developers need to go back to the 'sprite' format. It had more of a comic book/anime feel to the characters. It was like you were controling your favorite characters in their origanal comic/anime form. So much energy. So much personality!

Marvel VS Capcom 2 for PS2 will always be the best Marvel VS Capcom game. All the characters, the stages, 3 on 3 battle, & the music is just so amazing too! Marvel VS Capcom 2 can never be topped, I don't care what anyone says!!

The only MvC game I've played is 2. But even in that hour and a half that I played with the game, I freaking loved it. It didn't matter that I sucked. It didn't matter that I didn't know who most of the characters were. It mattered that I was having fun pulling off flashy moves with super cool looking characters. But when I look at MvC:I, I'm disappointed. I can only identify with a few Capcom characters, but I know a lot of Marvel, and when I see the lack of enthusiasm in the game, I just cringe. In 3, Ghost Rider was looking into his opponent's eyes, with the camera zooming in to give us a look into what the character is seeing: a fiery inferno of evil and madness that reinforces the character of Ghost Rider as a badass supernatural killer. What do you get in Infinite? A bland, still camera that doesn't show any personality while you have to look at the ugly character models. It just baffles me how you could go from Dante, Deadpool, and freaking Phoenix Wright going in guns, swords, and proper legal documentation blazing, to a slow, bland, uninspired game that pays no tribute to the characters that we love. Monster Hunter couldn't save you from my disappointment, Capcom. I'm truly sorry that that's the case.

To be honest this game is just lazy & boring. There’s no flare to it. The music is whack, the Stages, are okayyy, the roster is bland (btw I have no idea why Spencer & Firebrand came back because those 2 seemed like “one time only” characters) & it just has no life to it at all. The only good things about it are Black Panther, Megaman X & Venom & those are just characters but nothing in this game itself. Did anyone noticed how lazy they got with the death animations & death screams? They all sound exactly the same &/or have no flare put into it. I’m dying to know what they budget was for this game because it couldn’t have been very much. When I’m playing it it still feels like I’m playing the Demo. It’s so sad. Can we just act like this game isn’t canon to the MvC universe & we actually get MvC4 with the same but just more polished graphics than 3 ? Because I think that was arguably the best in the series aesthetic wise.

Real question is wheres the ports for MvC2? If it was on switch, PC or something current I'd be playing the hell out of it

Is it only me that thinks making the characters 3d kind of washes them in with the background? When they were 2d sprites on a 3d stage, it was easier to focus on the characters, which made everything just seem more vibrant and colorful.

I have loved Marvel vs. Capcom since the moment I first played it as a child, MvC3 was a dream come true (even if Ultimate angered me as Capcom actively trolled us Mega Man fans there), but with MvCI...it was different. As soon as I saw the trailer, I felt something was off, and not just the horrible renders, starting with how X felt like a cheaply made nostalgia grab, I'm not against those, but come on, PUT EFFORT INTO IT! When Smash Bros announced Mega Man, the entire internet shook, that trailer wasn't made up of CGI and sick music, it was crafted with love and dreams and passion AND IT SHOWS. Capcom made Infinite without any care, every bit of new information or trailers felt dull, felt like something they did because they had to, not because they wanted to. I know that what matters the most in a game should be gameplay and I agree on that, but that's no excuse to make the game so ugly, both in terms of graphics and sound, he renders looked way worse than in MvC3, to a point where I believe they were intentionally bad, and the music feels super generic! For me, part of the excitement over new characters was the expectation and wondering over how their themes would be, if they'd remix an existing tune, combine it with something else, or if it was original, would it fit the character? Infinite dulled down all the Capcom themes(seriously, HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO SCREW UP CENTRAL HIGHWAY, I WAITED FOR THAT SONG TO GET THE MVC TREATMENT SINCE MVC 1 AND IT WAS HORRIBLE, THE SNES ONE HAS BEEN MY RINGTONE SINCE 2007) and took away the Marvel ones, only to replace them with MCU-esque forgettable, characterless "orchestral" music, which shows that it's not only Capcom's fault, Disney forced the game to become MCU vs. Capcom, those designs do not fit here, not to mention the cruel and mean spirited X-Men ban, Wolverine was a constant, a symbol for this franchise even more than he is in the comics, he was the poster child, all the way back to Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes, that's why X-Men vs. SF had an unbelievable level of hype, that's why this series got as far as it had. All that said, the gameplay IS critically flawed as well, the Gem, sorry, STONE(god damn it, Disney7 system is cumbersome and their intention in terms of target demographic is a head scratcher, the wanted to make it for veterans by returning it to punches and kicks instead of just LMHS, but wanted to make it for casuals by "simplifying" commands. WHY???it took me several matches to get the hang of *RYU* for god's sake! You know you're screwing up when Ryu is a mess, the Shoryuken command changed, all anti-air moves now being down twice, which is not intuitive, Chun-Li's Hyakuretsu Kyaku is now a quarter circle, again, WHY?!? several people I know had trouble with this. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite was a mistake, and a cheap cash grab which, unsurprisingly, wasn't even cheap, DLC announced before the game is even out is never a good sign, specially when the initial roster is so limited and when Sigma was basically already on the game.

I'd like to have the Marvel fans have a lengthy conversation with other Niche communities like Melty Blood or Yatagarasu. It's humbling when you think about it. It proves the scene isn't as dead as you think it is.

what ruined Fighting games are the freaking DLC's and micro transactions. Especially this game, like you mentioned with buying Sigma! Its such a dirty tactic, especially when you pay top $$ for game from the shelf, only to find out that your favorite character costs an extra $10 !!

I got MvCI as a Christmas gift. I saw how they were trying to make up for the loss of sales by using Venom and Sigma as highlight DLCs and costumes as well, both of which were overpriced. I wanted to love this game, but so many issues during its development kind of pushed me away. I like this game, but it will be no where close to the other games I love. This is one of the biggest disappointments in fighting history.

surprised you didn't mention Disney's limitation to the MCU was what helped limit an already limited roster (this was something pretty well known, they wanted to restrict the number of Xmen since 3, Capcom had to FIGHT just to get Storm and Sentinel (ugh) added...now it was outright no xmen, no exception, which led to the characters are just "function" commentary to explain away characters like Magneto

What truly upset me was the greater implications of the death of MvCI. While maybe a cynical opinion, I’m afraid to say this might truly mean the end of Marvel, at least for another decade. I’d love to think down the road, we’ll have MvC5 and it’ll be a good game, and we’ll look back upon MvCI and cringe at that black sheep of a game and say, “I’m glad that’s over,” but I’m not sure if I could convince myself to believe it. Soulless business executives will look with Ghost Rider death glare eyes across the table at each other and speak without any understanding, without anything but numbers on a sheet that Marvel is dead and that we should move on. Or worse, they’ll think we have moved on, when really it’s their shitty excuse for a proper game that killed it. Even if DBFZ hadn’t come out or didn’t exist I think MvCI still would’ve been an ass-end failure. And to the people who insist Marvel isn’t dead or that DBFZ players should stop jumping on that train, wake the fuck up. Marvel is definitively dead, and I fear it will remain so for a long time...

Also the comparison section of the various games would be more convincing if the lengths were the same, they covered the same or similar characters and they showed the exact same phases of gameplay. Such a sad fate for one of my favorite franchise

I LOVED MvC2, played it back when it was on Dreamcast alongside Power Stone and Sonic Adventures, absolutely loved the game. Had to wait damn near a decade until 3 came out. I was initially a tiny bit iffy of the art choice, because I was perfectly fine with the 2D sprites of MvC2, BUT the art style of 3 still looked great, it had dynamic animations and, like you said, it had character. With that being said the entire aesthetic of Infinite along with the character roster didn't move me at all. I like VS series because of the crossover characters. I want to see if Ryu from Breath of Fighter is going to team up with Ryu from Street Fighter, or I want to see Gladiator from Marvel team up with Hayato from Star Gladiator, stuff like that. The game didn't move me so much that it's the first game I didn't even bother to buy let alone play.

The game that got me into fighting games was X-men vs Street Fighter. I can’t tell you how many quarters I dumped on the arcade at my local Wal-Mart. When it came to the Sega Saturn, I bought it. When they announced Its sequel, Marvel Superheros vs Street Fighter, I played that to the ground. Then came Marvel vs Capcom, and 2, which by far my favorite. Once they dropped the 2D art style in favor of 3D, something special was lost. That was the beginning of the end for me. Great video, brought back a lot of fond memories.

even without the FOX characters it's not like you couldn't have a great, fresh and fun roster. Loki would've been cool, daredevil would've been cool, the rest of the guardians, Vision, Ant-Man, Ms.Marvel, Hell scarlet witch would've been a nice way to include at least one x-men rep. And Capcom has plenty of guys they haven't tapped, way more than the measly FOUR new characters we got on that side. if the roster had more new characters it'd be a little easier to swallow the lack of certain fan favourites. As it stands, MVCI is just half of MVC3, so why not just play MVC3?

Honestly as a casual, I remember playing MvC2 when I was a kid with my brother and that was cool as hell. All the new 3d fg looks really crap to me. Dbfz looks awesome cuz it is a proper graphic evolved from old 2d fg. I just wish I had people to play dbfz irl lol. Online game is too stressful!

MvsC is 2 has some of my favorite childhood memories with it. You had all the 90's marvel cartoons in it, Xmen the animated series, Spider-Man, iron man, hell you even had Thanos in that game. I loved that game, sure the theme song was a little repetitive," I wanna take you for a ride", but I still loved it. In my eyes it was a masterpiece.

Got it on sale after Venom's release, I have to admit garbage art style and lack luster characterization aside the gameplay was actually quite fluid and fun, which makes this all the more painful. If they revamp the art style, add characters people want and re-dub the voices with more personality and flair, people would probably fall in love with the fun mechanics found here. My question is, will this be a death or is it the beginning of a resurrection?

All I really wanted was a nice looking game and a fresh new cast. The character choices are just awful, like on the capcom side they could of removed Arthur, Firebrand, chris, and nemesis. Then replace them with characters like Asura, Captain Commando, Leon, and Jack Baker. Then on the marvel other then the x-men, the cast is fine but I dont think we needed Nova.

MVCI was just such a shameful product. You are one of the few people that pointed out how uninspired the music was. I think personally, I was have let the visuals slide (some) if the music wasn't so bland and generic. Between the visuals and the audio, it was very obvious that this whole project had no heart behind it. Say what you want about SFV, but the UI is SLICK and the music is top notch. They put thought into presenting it as a video game. MVCI is the laziest project I think I've ever seen.

I've heard a few odd rumors about Infinite's development: - The game wasn't given a high budget at all, about as much as a season for SFV. - The development team were mostly new hires, and the art style was chosen simply because it was the only style they knew. - Marvel actually had very little input on the game's development or character roster choices. - The reason why select characters look good was because their models were outsourced. Plus a rumor I saw a couple of weeks ago that I've seen neither confirmed nor countered: - The game's online services are set to shut down in October this year, and Infinite will be taken down from stores. Infinite doesn't leave me disappointed in Capcom, it more makes me worried about them as a company. Capcom's seen such a decline in PR with it's community that I don't really see the company existing anymore in around 10 years. Even things as relatively innocuous and\or par for the course for the entire _industry_ are treated by fans as "proof of Capcom's willful negligence" and it reflects poorly on their other games, and I feel that Capcom doesn't deserve at least half of the criticism that it gets.

In general, Doto, my favorite time for the MVC franchose goes to Marvel vs. Capcom 3. I remember how much hype there was going into it, and how it was epic to see the franchise make a return after a long hiatus, but I think what got me most of all; just how much character it has, and how Capcom really put a lot of effort into revamping the series from its roots, and incorporating the many new faces they had going for it :D It made me happy, so it's why I feel disappointed that Capcom (thanks in no small part to Marvel in a lot of ways as well as Disney) dropped the ball as MVCI came out, since it had the potential... but it just fell short in so many ways.

There is only one thing I dislike about the criticize MVCI got from the community, and is that everyone BLAME CAPCOM........yeah is the popular thing now, blame the company that made the game, and is true Capcom did it and the scrub up......but they arent the only one to blame......MARVEL did this as well, the stupid dispute with FOX on the X-Men and FF characters land the main problem with ALL THIS, Capcom was force to make a game to PROMOTE the MCU.....something have nothing to do with video games, Marvel have no dispute in using X-Men or FF characters on any other media, is only the films, if they wanted to use for the game the X-Men and FF characters they could, but they force Capcom to not use the characters and also there are rumors that Marvel also stay that the Capcom side couldn't eclipse the Marvel side.....Basically Capcom couldn't put characters that were more cool than the Marvel side, that is a rumor so take it as you please, but if is true, how in hell a company can produce anything remotely cool with all these restrictions, and for the reaction of how Capcom themselves treat the game now it looks they didn't care about it, there were no passion behind this, yes Capcom still could at least TRY, but not blame Marvel as well for their share fault is WRONG in my opinion.

I didn't enjoy this video, not because it wasn't well put together, or had interesting points, or had Maximilian Dood, but because hearing and seeing everything they've done in this game was hurting me. the message in the video makes me wanna cry,i loved this game for so long , when number 3 was out i went to go buy it about a month later on but they were sold out , so i checked the other stores and they were also sold out , nowhere did i see marvel vs capcom 3 ever again,but then infinte came out i immediately bought the game to never end up like with the previous game again.but now it just sucks,i honestly cant believe how much better the previous games were this types of stuff just angers and makes me sad

Damn man it sure is a sad day, I remember all the fun playing Ultimate 3 and 2 because 2 is in a near mall with a mini arcade, all the fun and experience just makes hearing this hurt so much more.

The license deals have ruined this game series. Marvel originally created these characters & owned them 4 awhile until marvel started 2 lose money & got desperate 4 money & sold some of the characters 2 Disney & Fox. Hopefully marvel can get all their characters back in their possession someday & make more marvel vs capcom games.

I wouldv'e talked more on the roster. Sure they brought back a lot of characters from MvC3 but why did they choose the characters they chose? Nemesis over Wesker the main villian of Resident Evil? Spencer over Viewtiful Joe, Amataratsu or Pheonix Wright who's fan bases are way bigger and easier to sell to. Then why is Fire Brand even there? On the Marvel side no one is interested in the Nova comics so why is he filling up a spot? I get most of the other characters are there just to advertise the movies but I think a 3rd Guardian of the Galaxy wouldv'e been better if that was their goal.

That feeling when even kof 14 a game with arguably worse graphics (i disagree) and died a faster death (i disagree) happened to be an official game for two tournaments that had the name Evo on it (one was in japan) and MvCi as of the moment had none.

All the new characters and the inclusion of X in this game was great. The problem is they appeared in the wrong game.

MVC3 was my dad’s and my favorite game when I was younger. When we bought MVCI, we were both very excited, but then we played it.

The main reasons why I didn't get MVC:I were because it legit looks like a shitty mobile game that was ported to current-gen consoles & because I was so bored with the demo that I had to force myself to finish it. All my FGC friends were complaining at the time that I didn't get it but just 2 months later & they weren't even playing it anymore. Now we're all on Dragonball FighterZ & everytime I win I make fun of them for wasting $60+ on such a shit game lmao

Growing up arcades were some of my only ways to play games. Marvel vs Capcom was s dream to me and I always juggle characters when I could. On console I lost track of time with my friends...then I saw it's fall with ultimate. I pray it could be saved or at least get a spiritual successor...if not I can still go old school
