Asura Ōtsutsuki was the younger son of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki. Though not the obvious choice to most, he would go on to inherit his father's teachings, and as a result, would have to clash bitterly against his elder brother Indra. Asura is also credited with being the progenitor of both the Senju and Uzumaki clans.

So Naruto's fixation on Sasuke wasn't entirely free will on his part. As a reincarnation you're kind of a Slave to certain patterns and life choices of your past lives. You would think that hashirama broke the cycle of fixation when he chose to kill Madara. Apparently not or maybe the reincarnations just reset with each new one

There's a deeper aspect to that in black zetsu. Literally I'm pretty certain the cycle on Indra side of fighting Asura wouldn't have been a cycle at all were it not for Zetsu playing off the sibling rivalry till if becomes a intergenerational vendetta. There was always a choice but I would blame zetsu more for why there was no choice than because of reincarnation

To break the cycle would be to bring peace between the two. Killing each other only reaffirms the cycle. Peace between Naruto and Sasuke is what broke it.

Then you realized Neji was right all along about destiny and fate. Naruto being the reincarnation of Asura. Kishimoto had Neji killed off because he knew too much.

this. we all love naruto but the "failed message" behind it annoys me so much. i literally can't think of a single anime that starts with the whole "some people weren't born talented & have to work and train to become stronger" (+ some underdog thing) that doesn't end with the main character getting some insanely overpowered power ups. (the only manga i can actually think of is jujutsu kaisen, but that kind of doesn't count since gege uses and develops the side characters a lot and, to some extent, actually uses them to drive the story)

People always talk about wanting a series on Minato. But just think how much cooler one about Hagaromo and his children's lives. Just imagine starting the anime for it to start for the first 30 episodes a fight between kaguya,hagaromo, and hamura, then eventually watching asura, and indra growing up to eventually become enemies and them having families.

Great video. After watching it, I can think of both Asura & Indra as the Naruto version of Roku & Sozin from the Avatar series since they both had a friendship turned feud relationship that would eventually be resolved by their later counterparts such as Naruto & Sasuke, as well as Aang & Zuko. If you actually think about it most of hagoromo descendants have dwindled down to like only a handful of people. Tsunade is the last Senju, Naruto Boruto Himawari Karin are the last (known) Uzumaki Sasuke Sarada are the last Uchiha. (I'm not counting the Shin Uchiha clones)

@@madambutterfly1997 it’s not like that, you see, Nagato is pretty much an Uzumaki, perhaps his family move from the whirlpool village to the rain village, similarly Karin family move from that village to the grass village and Kushina from that village to the leaf, I.e the rest of them should be the same, with children in the off spring and unlikely to fight anyone.

No, each rivalry story is very different, and for a while, Sasuke have a very malevolent goal: destruction.

Only the chakra posses the people. Each pair it's unique. Otherwhise they could not exist at the same time. different souls, different chakras. Only with the 2 attaching themselves to them. Hagoromo explained it as Ashura choosing Naruto for something intrinsically Naruto. So similar things should happen with Indra.
