He achieved very little as a Death Eater, and caused more harm than good for Voldemort and his minions. He failed at retrieving the prophecy, his son Draco would have failed to kill Dumbledore without Snape's assistance. He pretended to be under a curse to avoid going to Azkaban. Then he abandoned his supposed Lord and Saviour, when he needed him the most. Talk about being extremely disloyal to his supposed "messiah" of his pure blood supremacy cause. Lucius is one of those guys that would never get his hands dirty and go through a cause he believed in. Without more powerful people he believed in. He's a coward at heart with only redeeming factor his love for his son and wife.

For me, Lucius Malfoy is not really bad, I think if he hates muggles and cares about pure blood, it must be because of the case of education that his father gave him and put in his head that muggleborn was nothing and shaped his character and way of seeing things, so lucius was death eater for voldemort because he both hates muggleborns and he was fascinated and thought that with voldemort he would be important, admired and appreciated by him and he was fascinated by black magic if i can say like, yes lucius did some bad things that voldemort dictated him to do but he never killed or tortured people like other Death Eaters in any case in the film, i think that we don't know enough lucius and the life he has them as well as the malfoy family i think its a misunderstood person who shows a maivaise personality to other people is to hide what he resents and that he did not have to have parents who have showed him attention and love but I think deep down he knows and his could be a good man, after my views to me

I think that Lucious wasn't a good chracter at all, he was an opportunist, that's all, he cared only for himself and his family, if the dark lord would've win he would continue go after him, the only reason they helped harry potter was of fear and the fact they've been disgraced by Voldemort, that's all.

Jason Isaacs portrayed Lucius which such subtlety and depth. Some of the other actors’ over acting was appropriate for their character in the books for example Bellatrix was besotted with Voldemort and had been programmed by her family to hate Muggle Borns. Helena Bonham Carter also played the character with such brilliance. But I have to admit it was good to see at least one of the evil characters Acting a little more low-key. Of course Alan Rickman is Severus Snape was the ultimate in controlling his feelings And good luck suitably detached and Hollow When it was required. Lucius and Snape were really the only evil people to have a true story arc. Make them less of a one dimensional character
