The Life of the Air Traffic Controller / Viața controlorului de trafic aerian

Mini-documentary about the controllers of the Air Traffic Service Provider in Romania, ROMATSA. It shows the activity in the control tower at Bucharest-Otopeni airport and at the radar station Bucharest Approach.
It was filmed with Sony XDCAM EX3 full HD camera on the day with the worst snowstorm of the year. This was a school project for the 1st semester. Directing and editing done by me while cinematography done by Alex Simion.

Felicitari! Avand in vedere dificultatile cu care te-ai confruntat, inclusiv buget restrans - ai facut o treaba excelenta. Felicitari si tatalui tau care te-a sustinut. Locuiesc langa unul din cele mai mari aeroporuri din lume (KORD) si ii aud in fiecare zi pe controlorii de trafic de aici.Sunt profesionisti desarvasiti. Aici un avion aterizeaza si decoleaza in fiecare minut.Sunt 5 luni de iarna, furtuni vara, situatii de urgenta, trafic greu, international.Sunt extraordinari de fiecare data!

Bravo ptr video,frumos si interesant. Cel mai mare respect il am ptr cei care lucreaza acolo,nu am cuvinte, e o meserie unde totul trebuie sa fie perfect. Calatoresc f mult cu avionul si datorita lor ma intorc mereu in viata acasa la familie.Va iubesc CTA:

I am very interested in the works of air traffic controlling, and even have attended in many towers as a visitor. I must say, its a stressing yet amazing job. I wish to also start ATC school as soon as i get a B.S. Degree :)

Roger - "I have received all of the last transmission" in both military and civilian aviation radio communications. This usage comes from the initial R of received: R was called Roger in the radio alphabets or spelling alphabets in use by the armed forces at the time of the invention of the radio, such as the Joint Army/Navy Phonetic Alphabet and RAF phonetic alphabet.[4][5] It is also often shortened in writing to "rgr". The word Romeo is used for "R", rather than "Roger" in the modern international NATO phonetic alphabet.

@andyosenzatie1 unitatea de dirijare Bucuresti Approach este responsabila de sectorul Bucuresti TMA care are ca zona de responsabilitate o suprafata de aproximativ 110 pe 90 km dreptunghiulara si care dirijeaza aeronavele din interiorul acestui sector pana la 5330 metri altitude. Astfel el se ocupa de aeorportuile Otopeni/Baneasa si in unele cazuri de aerodromurile Clinceni/Strejnic. Iar pentru ca nu este sectorizat aceasta o face un singur controlor. More at ROvACC.

This career looks interesting to me I don't mind the stress because think I deal with stress pretty well, so I think I'm pretty sure what I will be doing after HS

@ovidiu56 Urmareste concursurile de recrutare pe site-ul ROMATSA. Pana una alta pentru a te pregati si a te familiariza cu procedurile iti recomand sa te inscrii in ROvACC.org unde vei invata si pune in practica chiar procedurile reale din manualele PIAC-ATS (sintetizate de ei pentru a fi digerabile).

video very well done! fortunetely we do not have snow here. birds, kites, hot unmaned ballons, laser pens, but no snow.. mm.. is it just my impression or the language sounds a bit like italian? I don´t speak italian, or romanian. Oh, and I love those chairs.. they look to be comfortable for the job.

foarte interesant videoul, cand vezi ceva de genul ti se confirma faptul ca, in realitate, controlorii de trafic au o responsabilitate infinit mai mare decat cea a pilotilor. ce nu mi-a placut e muzica asta dramatica, prezentarea putea fi facuta dintr-o perspectiva mai pozitiva.

Este o afirmatie gresita prin care atribuie cuvintului "Roger" echivalentul aprobarii. Roger in aviatie, din cite stiu eu, nu inseamna aprobare ci numai primirea mesajului. Niciodata "Roger" nu inseamna " affirmative"!!!

Spencer Sangiorgio The average salary for a ATC is $121,000 a year. Big money for someone who only needs a two year degree. What my point is, is that most always think that a bachelors is the key to wealth. I beg to differ.

I don't think you people understand how STRESSFUL this job is and how much responsibility the ATC has in his hands. That's why the job is so well payed! If you hate that you make less money than them by all means go and become one! You can try but very few manage to pass the testing. It's not about how many degrees you have, it's about how useful your job is.
