Zhu Li Moon is the second and current President of the United Republic of Nations. Formerly Varrick's assistant, she finished tasks with stoic efficiency. When Kuvira threatened in 174 AG to send her off to a reeducation camp while Varrick was forced to continue working on a deadly spirit vine-charged weapon, she feigned to be loyal to Kuvira, blaming her employer for underappreciating her. Being subsequently appointed as Baatar Jr.'s assistant, she tried to sabotage the spirit energy cannon, though she was forced to flee with the Beifong family when she was discovered. She helped defend Republic City against Kuvira's invasion and after the metalbender was defeated, Zhu Li married Varrick. During the aftermath of Kuvira's invasion, she helped organize support for evacuees during the Evacuee Crisis and was subsequently elected President of the United Republic.

@@DarkSoul-jj2rv yes but if you notice her eyes are grey like Ty Lee. think about it, Tenzin and Melo act nothing like Aang... the personalities are way different. she could share genetics with a person and act nothing like them. in fact its been brought up that Ty Lee's family may have hidden air bender in her family. what nation generally had grey irises in the past? generally, the air nomads. therefore I offer the theory that Zhu-li may have airbender lineage.

I just realized that Zhu Li is a bit like Pepper Potts is to Tony Stark. Both of them were largely disregarded by their rich and genius bosses and were pulled along for the ride of all the trouble that they themselves into. With them ending up together in the end once their bosses learned to be more human and compassionate to the people around them.

@Sylvia Falls have you even watched the show? Sokka is invaluable to the team on numerous occasions. He’s the idea man. The tactical genius who figures out how to take down the bad guys.

@Sylvia Falls dude Sokka saves their asses on multiple occasions with his plans. He figured out how to stop the drill at Ba Sing Se, he planned and led the invasion on the day of Black Sun, and later saves Ba Sing Se from destruction by a fleet of Fire Nation airships during the finale. And those are just big examples. He is consistently helpful throughout the whole show.

@Sylvia Falls I didn’t say strongest at all. Where did you get that from? Just because he’s not a bender or the best at combat (and he’s still an extremely capable fighter regardless) doesn’t mean he’s completely useless. “Kinda helpful” is selling him incredibly short.

Behind every powerful man is a woman... rolling her eyes. That is Zhu Li in a nutshell. When power became thrust upon her, she found it suited her. That's the kind of person we need in the world today. Someone who doesn't seek power, but deserves it, and proves they can handle it. Zhu Li is the best assistant that any person would love to have by their side all the time. Because she is always automatic you don't have to tell her everything that she has to do because she already knows what to do that's why Varick is so dependent on her. She is like a very efficient and very loyal "assistant robot ".

Based on the episode timeline, Zhu Li almost definitely believed Varrick to be dead at the time that he blew himself and Bolin up on the train. But she still carried out her plan to deceive Kuvira and sabotage the spirit nuke! Girly has her own council that she operates under and I'm here for it 👏🏾🎉💕

I swear, it wasn't until Korra was over and I was like half-way into S3 on CBS's site that I looked it up and found out her name started with a Z. THE WHOLE TIME I was hearing Joo Lee, June Lee or some other crap, and I figured it was their way of telling us she was distantly related to the famous, amazing June-Lee from ATLA and thought the irony of her being meek and a secretary was delicious. I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, I own up to that.

I think that Zhu Li deserved an apology by Varick. Because everything Varick made Zhu Li go through, he should have apologized even once. Like the writers could have snuck in an apology in the scene in one of the final two episodes where Varick and Zhu Li are trying to defuse the mech suits by doing something with the wires? (I don't know what they were doing exactly) . It could have gone like this - Varick- Zhu Li, I wanted to tell you something. I wanted to... Ask you that can we go on a vacation together after this? (Or something like that I don't know) Zhu Li - Yeah sure, I guess... Varick - Look Zhu Li, I wanted to apologize for everything I have put you through. And then when you switched sides, and were working with Kuvira, I realized that I couldn't live without you, and I love you. That would have been so much better.

Actually he did in one of the final episodes. I think it was after he proposed and the Hummingbirds were in the air, Varrick told her of how he’d taken his ostrich-horse for granted when he’d been a boy. Which Zhu-Li understood he was alluding to having taken her for granted in the present.
