in my case, no amount of blending or layering seems to make the difference as you can still the color that was underneath if it was too dense. I don't know if it's the pastels (company's Jaxon, it was the only one I could find locally - I live in a small town in Germany - and I kinda wanted to give it a try after my last attempt about 10 years ago, in primary school), or the paper ("drawing paper", translated literally), possibly both. Like when I put the gray on top of the pink - for the clouds - the best I could do is put a thick layer of gray and not touch it at all lol. As soon as the paper is saturated with one color, there is nothing you can do really. Idk. I also got myself a set of 12 by another company (Faber Castell, for what it matters), to give these a try too, but I need something that uses very few colors. Oil pastels do seem like fun though.

@@Kasiarzynka, it's not the company, it's the class of pastels. I have pastels of the same company - Mungyo, but it's an entry-level, its price is 0.3 $ per piece. And they are complete rubbish - impossible to blend and very hard even to cover a paper with a smooth uni-color layer. The pastels in this video are of more pro-class, their price is from 0.6 $ per piece. So I think of buying the same set - Mungio Gallery Soft Oil Pastels - from Amazon. For you it would be even easier, at least they deliver to your country :)

@@Kasiarzynka I used Faber castle a few years ago, I'm not using oil pastels now. Faber castle works fine I think. Although I used it for much simpler landscapes. They turned out fine. I remember my teacher once told me that if the colours get too old then they lose 'oil' so maybe that's the problem.
