Jonathan Edwards is often considered to be one of the greatest theologians in American history. Yet many people today have only a cursory understanding of this leader from the First Great Awakening. In this classic series, Dr. Gerstner systematically surveys Edwards’ theological convictions and explores the enduring influence of this eighteenth-century preacher.
This is the 3rd in a series of messages by Dr. Gerstner on the theology of Jonathan Edwards. See other videos in the series: • The Theology of Jonath...

Very informative, thanks for posting. I’ve long sensed that the great streams of American life have been Enlightenment reason vs. Christian piety, now I see perhaps it amounts to deism (Jefferson, Franklin) vs. Calvinism (Puritans). It’s surprising that the bible belt was once New England - what would Edwards say about woke Yale today?

Amazing presentation. Sad, secularist and humanist thinking only guarantees damnation in front of the tribunal of the most Holy God. Grace Alone. Faith Alone. Christ Alone. For the Glory to God Alone. Scripture Alone.

If Arminius had lived a little longer he probably would have become calvinist.

Being a great theologian is like being a great tarot card reader, they both rely on belief in place of facts. No gods have ever been demonstrated to exist. Moses never existed, the Exodus never happened, Jesus was a composite character, the bible is a book of mythology with a tiny bit of history. What history is there is greatly exaggerated to the point of ridiculousness. Where are all the amputees who regrew limbs after praying in Jesus' name for a new one? There is no God. Prove me wrong.

My friend, history is against the claims you're making. To claim Jesus never existed is not an argument learned people make anymore, its evident that the man Christ existed and claimed to be deity. The question is,, "who was He?" The burden of proof is not on us who affirm these truths, but must be on you to deny them. All you've done is assert various things that many prominent a-theists don't even assert. My friend I will pray for you, no logical deduction will bring you to Christ so there is little point in trying, rather we trust in God, and may He grant you repentance as He has done for me. God bless you my friend

God and Christ are real and true, but listening to Gerstner, I can see how you come to your conclusions! LOL
