there's a book called The Happiness Trap by Russ Harris. It explains ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) very well. Has saved my life and continues to do so. It has plenty of research behind it too

There will be no help. I never got help, even from my friends that I opened up to. And all they say is showing that they don’t know and ignoring what you are going through.

Your feelings are misplaced. This technology is already here to stay because it makes companies billions of dollars. This is just one small attempt to use it for something other than profit. I get that people want to rail against the machine but this guy is not the machine. He's subverting it.
