"Ibabe" - the opening phrase of this song is T'Challa's war chant in Avengers: Infinity War, it means to "hold on".

Black Panther incorporated a lot of the Lion King into their film. The fans wanted an all human Lion King remake, not the weird CGI one we got - so Marvel did their best to give it to us thru Black Panther.

kaztazable Given the lyrics, I have no clue how Lebo M. slipped this into a _Lion King_ production, but I applaud him for it. The ending especially gives me chills.

+Poppy Raima Chills/ the ending is my favorite part why does it give you chills cause it's African RACIST
@poppyraima53428 жыл бұрын
xXx PiGdOgFaZe xXx Qwikscopr ...What? No, the fact that it's in Zulu is not the reason it gave me chills; it's the harmonies at the end, specifically the third chord from the end on the syllable _A_ in _Africa_. It's a beautiful chord is all I'm saying.

Aside from my other comment: This song brings back memories of sitting backstage with my "dead husband" (my best friend played Mufasa. I was Sarabi.) and waiting for the second act to start. Even as I'm writing this, I'm looking up at my lioness head. And my costume is in a drawer somewhere. Ah. Memories.

@kak41916 жыл бұрын
Can we talk about the tongue clicks while singing? It's absolutely amazing and just Wow I can only do the ones from this one, and Circle of Life. The one in Lioness Hunt is not easy to do, and mad respect for anyone who can. I overemphasize the C in the "squbeqenisio zingela" before the "Ta ta" starts. (Probably spelled that horribly wrong. Please correct me if you need to.)

The word is "yibambe" meaning "hold fast" or "hold off" in the language "Xhosa". It is also the language in which John Kani, who is a native Xhosa speaker, and Chadwick Boseman were talking to each other.
