It disappoints me how excited the general public is for a shittier version of an animated classic. Being realistic doesn't make thinks automatically better. 2D animation is really underappreciated nowadays.

I know I might be knit picking.. but the fact that Mufasa didn’t say “Brother!” Before he was murdered by his brother, hit the your point about emotions, when he said that word in the animated version, it showed that a king can put his pride away and he was scared.. there was none of that!!

Why no Jeremy Irons? I literally don't get it.... his voice is AMAZING. It's an iconic role for him.

This shouldn't exist. *NONE OF THESE CGI REMAKES SHOULD EXIST*

Pros: -The visuals were gorgeous -Timon and Pumbaa were hilarious -the Circle of Life song was amazing in "live action" -Most new dialogue was great -The Be Our Guest scene -The Lion Sleeps Tonight song -The fire at the end with the final battle Cons: -Since it's "live action" the entire movie was really colorless and bland-looking -There's no awesome colors and giant animal tower in the I Just Can't Wait to be King song -They completely ruined the Be Prepared song -Timon's voice was a bit off -THEY MADE ED TALK, LIKE, COME ON! THAT WAS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY!!! -The hyenas weren't that funny -Scar's new voice and delivery were mediocre -The characters showed no emotion at all most of the time -Young Simba sounded like a little girl when he screamed when Mufasa died -Can You Feel the Love Tonight took place during the day instead of night, and combined with the emotionless characters, you really couldn't feel the love tonight (or today, because it took place IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY) Yeah, there's a lot of cons and some pros. Personally, I didn't like this version all that much.

When Chris Stuckmann and Jeremy both have the same opinion on a movie it's probably a safe bet that they are right.

So it's Lion King but kinda shittier? That sounds like a great use of my time and money.

People who complained about the unrealistic humanoid design in Andy Serkis' Jungle Book: this, this is why unrealistic humanoid faces. Human faces convey recognizable emotion.

I really dislike this "Remake Era" we are going through with Disney. So far I haven't seen a single Disney live remake be better than the original. I wish they would stop trying to remake classics because they will keep making the experience worst by taking things away instead of trying to enhance the experience by putting things in. I heard Mulan won't even have Mushu. That like.... I don't even know what to say. Don't make Mulan if you are going to remove such a important character. Just make original movies or heck I will even take bad sequels over remakes at this point.

My fiance and I walked out. Following us was a dad and his kid, and a family of four. We ended up talking outside the theater about how DEPRESSING this was to watch. I actually asked her "So should I boo now? Or.... wait till the end?"

Andy Serkis is the best there is at giving animals emotion. The work he did with Mowgli was awesome!

“If the CG is keeping this movie afloat, it will probably keep it afloat for a year.” This is what I felt about Avatar. Hopefully the next movie’s in that series deliver on a deeper story level, for all the James Cameron creativity and films they’ve robbed us of for a decade. I still cringe at the term “cash grab.” If it were cheap and easy, I’d agree. I feel like Disney is swinging for the fences with the live action remakes and, while not whiffing, they keep hitting grounders. The Jungle Book is the exception, a remake that works better than the original. The animals were photo real but still emoted, and it sounds like they would have done better by using that here. Maybe they’ll make a remake of this remake, this time with emotive animation. “We’d have to rig the characters’ faces to emote...” then do it! We’ll come see it and have a three-way comparison extravaganza!

If they insisted on a new lion king (and they did), they could have at least incorporated the extra emotion and extended music from the stage musical.

Seriously this video gets better and better. Thank you Jeremy for your perspective. I literally felt the same way in the theater. The original just had so much more gravitas to each and every scene. Something was horribly missing from this remake. Shows you how far Disney is falling now a days...

Jeremy Irons not voicing Scar and with the shortened 'Be Prepared' song makes me lose interest in this movie.

The only thing Disney cares about these days, IS MONEY. That's why we got this film.

I felt nothing during Mufassa’s death and I’ve cried many times to the original scene.

ok, the besides the lack of facial expressions of the original, there is a fatal flaw in this movie, the pacing is way too fast, a lot of the things feel super rushed to the following dialogue or scene. For example (I don't think this is considered spoilers as the movie is like the old one storywise, but spoilers) when they're leaving the elephant grave yard, as they're walking away, you haven't start to feel that Simba thinks he might be in trouble or feeling that he's upset, you're already getting Nala noticing and comforting him with "I thought you were really brave", right after, you haven't started to feel that Simba is really upset and Mufasa is really angry, they already went on to "The hyenas are scarer" and the two of them playing in the grass. When Nala reunites with Simba after the wrestle, Nala didn't even have time to be shocked by "slowly recognizing" Simba, and come to the realization that he's not dead, and she just said "Simba" right away, then not sorting out the situation and went straight to "you're suppose to be king, you have to go back" and it's examples after examples of this throughout the WHOLE movie. Otherwise, I really like the modern takes of the songs, and besides the facial expressions (and lack of differences in the female lions), the animation is on a new level I think.

So, basically, Lion King 2019 is POINTLESS!!! This is usually the case when someone does something right and perfect the first time. An Olympic athlete won't get a perfect score and say "Hang on, let me try that again." Why? See the word that is all in capital letters.

Instead of referring to this as the live action version of The Lion King, it should be referred to as the less animated version of The Lion King.

Review summed up most of my issues, one more thing that peeved me was the fact that several scenes did not allow the music to build up properly. Also the entire Can you feel the Love Tonight scene was in broad daylight. And they were arguing before nightfall.

I don't get why we had Aslan expressive in Narnia with minimum details and this movie seemed so backwards... Years later! Come on!

Speaking of the music in this version, while I liked most of the singing in the film, I wasn’t feeling the voice singer who sang the opener, “The Circle of Life.” Her voice didn’t carry the same power as the original singer.

I feel like Disney has run out of ideas, if they didn’t have marvel they wouldn’t have any original content. Why else would they be making these live action remakes

The Jungle Book is pretty much the only good Disney remake.

This review matches how I felt about the movie. I had the same concerns when I first saw footage of the emotionless singing but thought I'd get used to it. Nope. Go see Aladdin instead.
