Yeah I was surprised. Because in 90% people in PR across all spheres of society (police, office workers...) ARE the problem. They chose to act the wrong way. So I was in shock the police didn't harassed him, but was 'on Lions' side.

Studied criminal investigation, a professor told us , "here in Puerto Rico the future criminal spends his childhood alongside the future cop" not implying that there are only two choices, but that here, mostly everyone receives the same upbringing, they get the same values , and that we're all 1 or 2 bad choices away from going bad, we just have to keep viewing that possibility in anyone and not antagonize them by the stage they're at the moment. If we lose that reality, our correctional system will not correct anything. Good cop there not judging, just being a neutral intermediary even tho the mayor was the one who called them in.

cops in Puerto Rico suffer the same if not more than other Puertoricans. Miserable wages, little to no equipment to do their job, and almost no money for retirement.
@Dexterosa
@Dexterosa 3 жыл бұрын
@@campersbull7734 really? And why they take that job when at least half of them has no intention to actually move a finger - with an excuse 'my pay is low' or 'im doing this for pension only so Im not gonna do that (meaning his duty)'. Because stuff i witnessed - what police do (or better say doesn't do) in Puerto Rico - they shouldn't get any pension and any pay if we speak of "fair reimbursement for work performed". (Basic textbook of management talks about it) .

call it balls but its more how capable you are. can you fly a drone, can you program an arduino, can you process audio, can you hike or drive or whatever. keep improving your capabilities and then you can. that's why there is so much invested interest in making learning confusing, hard or impossible, and keeping people occupied with meaningless things. when you see how easy it can be to help people, you know the difference from the way things are done and how they could be. it helps to be aware that much of the resources available in society, are there to hurt you.

Mayor: Any mayor could NEVER know about these supplies! Reporter: I have no idea- Mayor: Those warehouses are owned by the CENTRAL government! Gee, wonder why she is all defensive like that... Funny how the fact that a reporter wants to interview her seems to be in her eyes an attack against her. You would think if she was as innocent as she was saying she would be happy to have an opportunity to set the record straight and give her side of the story, but she was clearly annoyed with the reporter for even being there. I guess she can't accuse this one of being a criminal and paid by her opponents. And then when Leon is interviewed about supposedly stealing he doesn't seem defensive at all, just amused they would try and tell such bad lies about him.

@@Interests97 I would argue that his comment implies that with purpose, direction and determination, one can acquire public support, political influence, economic influence, money and (if necessary) guns. That’s why ruling parties often make it a priority to stifle voices like his before any traction is gained in a movement. Because leaders and ideologies are where it all begins.

@@secularsekai8910 if that is what he meant, then i agree. But many revolutionary movements or activist groups try to acquire more resources precisely because of how important and central they are to fighting against power. Pinning the results on values might sound good, but is abit unrealistic.

I think it's important we learn from each other because, particularly here, when we talk about being a US colony, most Puerto Ricans aren't aware of none of you guys existence. So, for most, they think that the struggle is only unique to us, when in reality, if Congress doesn't ever address our colonial status, the likelihood that it will address the rest of the US territories is low at best, never at worst.

When governments fail to represent the interest of the people, and one person like The Lion Man rise up to the occasion to hold the government accountable, the people will rally behind him. Hell, I'm not even a Puerto Rican and I'd rally behind him any day than one of the "honest" politicians where I'm from. A lot of things talked in this mini documentary are “our everyday bread”. I am an undergraduate college student of psychology. And in many of our classes these topics are discussed and analyzed so I can tell you that in Puerto Rico there is a big crisis going on in different areas like collective mental-health, infrastructure of the island, corruption in the politics and poverty. This have been going on for years and its only getting worse with the actual news that the government has sold the electric company that was in charge of providing electric energy to all the island. The actual company (LUMA) that got the contract have publicly said that there is going to be daily “blackouts” plus the bill is higher than before…

They even called my father to tell him I was molesting kids. A call that caused him a stroke and eventually killed them. The court in Fajardo has punished me more times that I can count, and I spend all my money trying to defend myself. Now I have no family, no money, and no safety. Now I stay quiet and live looking over my shoulder.
