Natasel I don't have any survival gear, but I take the occasional naked winter stroll. Though I have to admit that usually I'm wearing a T-shirt and every other year even a sweatshirt once or twice, so I have no right to claim that the cold does not bother me. I'm not at the level of ice water skinny dipping, though.

@@QUARTERMASTEREMI6 'Mere Christianity' is a chore to read and abit preachy, but it does neatly wrap up CS Lewis's take on modern Christianity. +Poisoned-cupcake Loved the books as a kid. Read Prince Caspian so many times the book actually split in half. Had the same reaction you did trying to reread them as an adult. As far as Edmund, yeah, as a kid reading them, he came off as a mean little dickbag, but as an adult, I can't help feeling bad for a character who's really just a little boy being manipulated into betraying his family and possible getting them killed (whether he knows it or not). Though maybe his denial of Narnia being a real place was a way to try to protect his siblings from the white witch. #fantheory

+Poisoned-cupcake Same for me (ex-catholic, currently agnostic). They were the first books that I got really invested in. It helps a lot that Lewis writing is very clear and easy to read. I think my favorites are The horse and his boy (it is the only one that is completely told in-world and a great coming-of-age story) and Voyage of the dawn traveler (I loved how different each island was and how each had a unique story).

Dgmw, I think that there's a lot of really good stuff in here about love and forgiveness that definitely reminds me of why I actually love religion, but there's also a LOT of really heavy-handed symbolism and non-Christian shaming in the other books, which is the main issue I take w the series as an adult (I'm gay and had to deal w a lot of similar shaming growing up)

Cuz it fucking is and you fucking whiners just act like you're being assaulted by Christians when Christians haven't been a legit threat in like 200 years. TLTWATW is a book about religion at its very core. C.S Lewis WROTE the book FOR people to come to Christ. I couldn't even bring up Christianity and how good religion is in history or english class, let alone physical science class without being threatened for detention before. get the fuck outta here kid. I literally just fucking graduated last year. I know what the highschools are like now. Christian teachers are even afraid to tell students who and what they are when students ask them cuz they dont wanna get fire let alone get sued in some fucking ridiculous way. and Catcher in the Rye WAS indeed religious, idiot. It even fricking had religious themes in it, it was one of the main fricking themes IN it.

The unabridged version was on 12 audio cassettes and had a full cast, while the abridged version didn't and was on 2 cassettes. I never did get around to reading that one, just the first two.

+Sentinalh It's been ages since I've read that trilogy and would really like to see it here. As a kid, the first book made very little sense to me until I had read the second book, and it was revealed that our world existed alongside all these others. It never felt like it was written for kids IMO. But anyways, it's not so much atheist as it is anti-religion by the end. The last book has a lot of references to Adam and Eve and the truth of the demons and sin. Plus God is portrayed as pretty pathetic.

+Roxanne Ferreira I got the feeling he was talking about the catholic church from the very beginning in the first book, with mrs. Coulter and her pure cult that severed children from their daemons -it seemed so very analogous to the fear and hate of children's eventual sexuality to me -but it does come in full-force in the third book, what with the actual God making a pathetic entrance. Also, I second the notion of a "Dark Materials" analysis, maybe specifically book-by-book even

As someone with a deep love for the Narnia stories, your summary and commentary were excellent. Smiled and laughed the entire time, never hearing it described that way. With such flair and enthusiasm in telling the story, logically... Wisecrack is a Knight of Narnia.

I was first introduced to this channel by a coworker. Loved it. Kids in the 8th grade English class loved it too, as a way to better understand "To Kill A Mockingbird." I have even learned a lot about books that I suffered through in middle and high school, but now want to understand something deeper through a unique, well thought perspective. This episode depicts a book I fell in love with, way back in elementary school- a catholic one- and never thought more than captivating. This episode connected a piece of my childhood with the reality I lived. Please, more more more more more more more. This is modern, concise, entertaining, educational, collected, and masterful. This is where education should have caught up to. Thank you. -john

I love this video. You really managed to make the summary both enjoyable and hilarious. Also, I would pay good money to hear Liam Neeson say the exact same lines that your Aslan did in this video. Can you imagine Liam Neeson as a CGI lion saying: Psh, bitch! I'm fucking Aslan. I do what I damn well, please."

9:10 While it is true that Jesus died for everyone, it's also true that he died for us all individually. So it's possible Lewis was trying to make that point. That's one of the reasons we say Jesus is our personal savoir.
