Being a trash like trolls and AntiSJWs is a choice. Angry AntiSJWs/Conservatives really got triggered when they saw The Little Mermaid got an A Cinema Score, comparing it to the Audience Rotten Tomatoes. Fun fact, even if you haven't watched the film anyone can still send a review, this is why Audience Reviews in RT aren't reliable. CinemaScore is rated from the people coming out of the cinema, aka people who watched the show not just angry AntiSJWs mad about a black little mermaid.

People outside USA dont care at all bout representation... black people outside USA dont see a black actress and feel represented, they see an american actress that has nothing to do with their culture... me as a latino for example, i really dont care if they put a mexican actor as if he represents all latinos... simply because im not mexican... even if the actor is from my countrie, it would be just curious to see a familiar face in a foreign movie, but its not an important factor... and hollywood has the tendencie to ve a bit ofensive with the representation of foreign countries.... like the "Mountains of villa gesel" from x men... you are analizing global box office from an american perspective that is not quite correct...

From a perspective of someone who doesn’t live in USA, it seems like north americans only see black characters as representation and while that might work for them, that doesn’t resonate with the rest of the world. Edit: not to mention, the Disney live action doesn’t have a lot of nostalgia value for the fans of the original movie because older songs got changed, the movie isn’t as colorful and the side characters look strange as opposed to their cute 2D designs.

I'm an overseas audience Grace and I have loved previous live-action remakes like BatB, Aladdin, and Maleficent. The reason why TLM isn't doing well here is that for nostalgia filled audiences she doesn't look like the iconic character that is Ariel. It's not because the lead is black, we love Will Smith's 90s/00s films, Black Panther, and Princess and the Frog. It's just that the fact that for a film that banks on nostalgia, this one is so dead set on destroying the original. The lack of a superstar also doesn't help.

There is so much more to choose from and theaters are expensive. Just wait for it to go to disney plus. Most movies ARENT going to be avatar. And if anyone thought this was going to make a ton of money internationally then you are misguided. Black leads in movies dont do well internationaly 90%. Disney, mcu, dc or whatever unless its FF. We all know it and sadly know why! And most people in this comment section havent even seen the movie! 😂 go see it first then talk about how awful it is etc. But people like or love this movie. Audiences are fractured period now and im fine with that. Hollywoods needs to regroup and rethink broad appeal. Its going to be rare to get a movie where it appeals to everyone. @@booksaremybag4684 True. It's a Danish story. The mermaid statue in Copenhagen is nearly as famous as manneke pis in Brussels. The story takes place in Italy and a dark main character is not representative for Italians nor Danish people.

I think the poor ad campaign means this movie planned to rely on word of mouth but when all the comments on social media are berating the movie nobody is hearing about 'how good it is' or how 'they must check it out' audience scores tend to be balanced out if there are fans along with hater ppl giving it trash scores are balanced by fans giving it a 100% rating

@@Ansh.Saxena but the movie has a 95% RT score. So word of mouth is extremely positive. IMDb even has it with a high rating as well. All reviews of the movie that I see say it’s an amazing movie. So I am currently in the Philippines (Manila) right now and I went to see GotG3 yesterday (Sunday at 1pm) at a very popular mall/Cinema. GotG3 has 1 screen and Little Mermaid had 3. The line to get into the GotG3 wrapped around about a 3rd of the entire lobby area. Mermaid had only about 3 families per cinema room. I know my view is quite limited because it’s one cinema in one city……but damn that’s not good still.

Your still not seeing why Mario succeeded it didn't try to rewrite the script it was faithful to it source. Context matters it not trolls even those that don't care about the original source are calling it a mid movie, and mocking the player king triton and continuity errors. Hallie will do fine I like see her in a rom com I think that would fit her perhap something similar to the premise of Coyote Ugly. She has a beautiful personality it would show in a movie like that.

Exactly, Grace is on crack here. $1B is a glowing success, but far from the norm nor should it be the norm. The real box office/profit tally, if you want to be conservative, is to double the budget. Whatever the movie makes after that, those are its profits and determine how successful a movie really is.

@@mikejunior211 that’s exactly what I AM accounting for. You double the budget to account for marketing spend and other factors. So, for $200M+ blockbusters, the actual cost when you factor in marketing is more in the $400M range
