How do we explain the things that happen in our lives? Are we actually in control, or are we faded images of our real selves? Explore these questions with me as I analyze the magical realist elements from Haruki Murakami's novel 1Q84 and compare them to Aum members' testimonies and interviews in Murakami's nonfiction work Underground. We will think about bodily autonomy, metafiction and more!
