I like the (possibly unintentional) message through the visuals that you don’t need to be perfect to get the job done. The robots movements get progressively looser/sloppier throughout the song *but he’s still hitting the notes just fine.*

I used to be a perfectionist when I was younger, it still shines through at times, nothing is better than something that’s not perfect or finished, you used to be better, you’ve fallen fat from grace, you could be doing something better with your time, do better with your life, ect. This captures this so much, the constant panic attacks, breakdowns, burn out, searching for something new so people don’t think you’ve ran out of ideas or your not as graceful as before.

Notice how at 2:51 the robot breaks down when the song says it’s back to square one. And then all the note blocks all drop down on it. They had to completely restart what they were doing because of an imperfection and all the problems they already dealt with all sprang at the character at the same time since he already used up so much of it.

TLT's musical narrative focus about the struggles of remaining productive, trustworthy, and beautiful as an artist blooming onto the scene is so valuable to me as an artist still trying to find what sticks. We can't be machines. It's disappointing when a big dream turns into a complex mess and we can't just snap into place and fix it, and it's usually due to something we struggle with all our lives, not even a new problem. What's interesting is that the rap part where it basically says "Robotic is better than human" is voiced by a human, while the one singing the chorus " I Wanna Be A Machine " is well, a machine. The little details are what makes it stand out.

I just fired up Beat Saber last night for the first time in months and discovered this song. SO GOOD. And now that I'm reading the lyrics I'm being hit with feels. I was diagnosed with ADHD a few months ago and recently started trying to improve my life...I feel these lyrics on so many levels.

You know, I keep talking about how this song is uncomfortably relatable. But this is… possibly the most a song has hit home for me. After I had finished school, and went to college (which is essentially school for like 16-18 year olds where I come from, before someone goes to university), I was already so burned out from years of constant bullying, but I wanted to chase my dreams of becoming an actor nonetheless. I was scared that the bullying would just continue, so what did I do? I became apathetic, I became emotionless- I became a machine. It sucked. In academic subjects, it was great! I was able to focus, and get the work done. In the creative ones, though? My talent tanked. Acting needs a human touch. ART needs a human touch. This machine I desired to be to protect myself just ended up making me feel even more vulnerable. I’m still not entirely out of that phase, even after finishing my uni degree in drama. I still struggle to become an actor proper, I still struggle with those demons that make me desire to just be emotionless, to just be able to work and work and work without burning out. I guess the point of this rant is: thanks for this song, TLT.

I love how this could represent no matter how you try to “robot-focus” yourself, the anxieties and fears a human feels eventually break down the facade and walls a person tried to put up-especially with the constant obstacles being thrown.

I think I understand what this song means. So as humans we strive to be perfect, or like a robot. When we finally are, we are trapped into being perfect and are not human anymore. We are then just machines.

Nae, I'd say we as humans see robots as perfection, they can do a lot of things at the same time even better than we do but we don't realize that even robots suffer from the same problems that humans have. As examples: overclocking, overheating - stress, burnouts and it's just pointless? idk just showering thoughts😅

@@xdemonwarrior9x4 Isn't moreso someone (the singer in this case) wanting to shed their human skin because they want rid themselves of all those "humanistic" and often unnecessary feelings? Robots physically can't feel stress, they don't break under pressure, they're twice as fast (according to the song), don't doubt themselves etc? I suppose one could see this song as somewhat of a rant, a rant by someone tired of being human.

Not only is the song for this track incredible, but the video is also awsome. I love how after the first chorus the lyrics refer to the persons drive to be better, faster and perfect like a machine, and the robot in the video mimics those lines with clean, focused swings and slices at the blocks. But when the second chorus ends and the lyrics start talking about the strain and stress the person feels trying to be perfect, you can see the robot sparking and swinging more frantically like the robot itself was growing exausted. Awsome song, awsome video and awsome track to play, great job TLT!

personally... caffeine helps self-medicate heavy adhd if used in controlled amounts. a cup of sweet coffee to sip through a tough task will make it go a lot smoother, or down it all at once and force hyperfocus lol.

@@yasininn76 For what I have read, threatment drugs are very "hit or miss" things. Some substances work on some people while they do nothing on others and viceversa, and finding the right ones is pretty important. Caffeine is nowadays being medically used to threat kids who are responsive to it, so it might work just fine for some people, while for others it doesn't. For me is like a so-so thing. Around two months ago I was drinking at work a Monster dayly, mixed with 2 liters of low sugar cola, and when I quit that my performance plummeted (I was burnt out anyway, but it got worse, so "back to square one"). The doctor seeing me wants to try a dopamine-focused antidepressant before trying the anphetamines route, lets see how it goes.

While I am just as hyped to see TLT come so far (truely congrats man), I don't see as many people talking about the meaning as I feel like this one us definitely hiding a message unlike some songs. For me it's about a man that's being crushed by his modern life and feels that he can't be perfect so wants to be a machine, and despite the action to take better care (maybe it's the pills i take) he's getting nowhere (back to square one), which sadly is kinda relatable to a good few of us.

I'm not usually a fan of these kind of songs, but this is such an interesting piece of music just by composition. I'm by no means an expert but hey may as well record down my thoughts. We begin with chorus and in both the MV and just from voice alone, we can tell it's a robot voice speaking. Despite being 'machine', it claims that something is wrong with itself and it wishes to change. Then between each chorus the verses has a human singing about different issues they face and how they feel overworked. The lyrics mainly trying to convey a sense of urgency and rush, with the singer saying that they wish there was a way to deal with it, their way of wanting to deal with it is to become 'machine'; as if machine is perfection. Yet every time we go back to the robot, we see that it claims that being 'machine' is nothing close to perfection. It constantly keeps thinking something is wrong with itself, and in the MV we even see it create a human, possible in an attempt to find a way to be rid of its own identity as a machine to begin with. Either the human and robot are the same entity, or two separate ones that ironically longs to become their opposites, directly or indirectly. Fun song.

Interesting analysis, mine's a bit simpler but I think there's some similarities with yours. I follow the interpretation that the machine and the human are the same, with the machine being a state of "blissful denial" in a way, the melody is a lot simpler and repetitive, it's a pause to take a breath and I believe it's meant to be interpreted as the more harmonious state, but despite this, there are cracks. The lyrics loop on each other and repeat and we can see the robot is scared of reverting back to its human flaws, as suggested by the lyrics "I am scared I'll be the same to you" and the repetition of the "there's something wrong with me, oh no", and "now it's back to square one" which always precedes the rap sections. The raps seem to be the lapse back to the human vulnerability and doubt, where the singer vents their frustrations about their imperfections, and desperately wishes to go back to the soothing calm of the machine. Every rap ends with a line that suggests the singer believes machines are superior, like the "give into the robotic focus and out with the human" and "robotic is better than human". The song to me seems like a self-perpetuating cycle of a human who hates their limitations and constantly seeks to reach the harmonious constant of machinery, but every time it reaches this state, it frets about reverting back to its human frailty, which in turn leads to an emotional breakdown that brings the singer back to their human state. Due to this, the singer's never happy or at peace in any way, whether hating its human limits and wishing to be a flawless machine, or fretting that a lapse in its robotic thought process will return it to its human state.

This song is scarily relatable to me. I am currently in high school remote learning, and my dad recently went to jail. And the physical and emotional burnout of doing most of the round the house work and then slaving away at a keyboard to get good grades, and then my insomnia on top, makes me feel like a cold emotionless machine, and there is something tempting about that feeling cause it lets me be more productive. I feel little to no emotion now, and when I do its one of three options: Annoyance/anger, boredom, or depression. And so being emotionless feels better. It is 2 in the morning. I haven't properly slept since we had to drop off my dad at the Sherrif's office. And yet I cant bring myself to just go to bed. Because I spend literally from morning till night working, or watching my baby sister, and so the only time I have to myself is the night. The only time I have to try to feel any positive emotion. Song is a banger tho 🔥
