5 жыл бұрынAlthough the USA has evolved into an overwhelmingly metropolitan nation over the last few decades just over half of the country’s population (according to year 2000 statistics) still live in towns and cities with fewer than 25,000 people.
The country is still made up of many small towns, some of which have low dwindling populations. There’s one town in the States where you could double the population just by showing up.
It has a pub, a library and one resident, who takes care of the passing trade. There’s another town with a population of just two. And of course there are the many ghost towns scattered across the country with populations of zero.
The one single resident of the town with the tiniest population is sticking to her routes. Let’s meet her in Today’s Infographics Show as we bring to you - The Town with a Population of One

I've lived in several small towns over the years, frankly I prefer them. Big cities have much to offer, but they also have a lot of bad points.

I remember living in a small town with 1000 residents. Honestly, it was good, you literally knew everyone in the town. Plus when someone had a party the whole town went. The only downside was having to drive 30 minutes to get groceries.

My last town was two hours in any direction from major cities. All we had was quick stops, a grocery store (major chain at least), three restaurants, and one little mom and pop variety (sort of) store. There was a small hospital, but for anything serious it was medevac or ambulance. I don't recommend either frankly.

I've hear of a giant ghost town in China or some other area like Europe. It was a large construction project intended for the citizens or authoritive figures to move into or something. The move never happened and all the streets, houses, shopping centers, and sky line are completely silent, to the extent it scares the few people who go there.

That isnt down to the narrator, it's the channel manager that deals with sponsorships. Nower days channels on KZfaq have to push promocodes to supplement their income. Its only fair.

I thought only USSR has such a problematic like ghost towns, as other places in the world are so densely populated. USA is such an interesting place! So diverse. American ghost towns are even more ghostly then those of the USSR. There usually is an extreme distance between the towns and extreme climate as well, in Russia. So people do still live in their towns, and even make kids, whereas in the US it is so easy to move out and the towns get literally ghost. An astonishing video! I’m certainly visiting the town of Monowi when I get to see my old friend who lives in Lincoln, Nebraska

USSR doesn't exist anymore. And when it did, ghost towns weren't a problem. Well, if you didn't know, and most probably not, the USSR leadership brought almost all the youth to the big cities, where they built huge appartment buildings for cheap mass housing. The small towns were the ones with the babushkas and the grandpa's living there, and the youth visited them. Oh, the ol' good times.

We just drove about 10 hours to visit Elsie. So I guess that is the smallest town I’ve ever been in. She was super sweet and had the coldest beer in town. And nearby is Niobrara State Park it is a beautiful part of the country that I’ve never heard of until watching a random KZfaq video about Vanlife or a couple went through there. So we had to go meet Elsie.

Yea....I live in the center of Texas. The closest town with more than 10000 people is 3 hours away. Closest major highway is 2 hours away. When people say coastal elites forget about people in rural America, this is the area we are talking about. A lot of you would be shocked to know the state of living so many of us are still in.

I want to point out that this is not the only town in the United states with a population of 1, and it's also not register as the smallest town in the United States. That title actually belongs to Buford Wyoming, population of 1, consisting of 1 post office, 1 house, and a gas station. My favorite ghost town I've been too is Sunrise Wyoming, a mining town shut down after its ore ran dry, it's only a small drive from another very small town called Hartville with a population of 61 people.

The towns I lived just outside of during my high school years, Maynooth and Maple Leaf ON Canada. had a population of about 80-120 each by my estimate and a friend lived near Fort Stewart which he figured had 15 or so. The High School is in Bancroft which has 3838 people as of 2006.

This is not uncommon in Australia, they had to change the rules so that to be a town you have to have 25 people, due to several towns having a population under 3
