It is related to the Ford Prefect and the later Ford Popular. The Anglia name was applied to various models between 1939 and 1967. In total, 1,594,486 Anglias were produced. It was replaced by the Ford Escort.
And made for a light weight and cheap drag racing car.

Back in '02 while in Phoenix area, I saw my first Anglia in front front of me that once belonged to Paul Mccarthy. It was tubbed and had a sbc 400.

Yep they have both a short wheelbase and a narrow track neither of which is conducive to making a car stable.
