I think there's also a possibility that knights and soldiers of Hyrule who found themselves out of favor may have been posted in the more remote outposts, such as the Death Mountain one, as was done historically. It's possible that's why there's so little of those outposts left. The soldiers there just weren't that great at their jobs and put up the least fight against whatever took them out, be it guardians or something else. As always, I love how much thought you put into your videos, and I appreciate that you haven't abandoned the era of the wild.

Very possible. Another possibility for the Death Mountain one, it seems a bit buried. It could be that due to the Great Calamity, an eruption occurred during or shortly after Ganon showed up, and if true, then the resulting lava flows might be the reason why the ruins seem to be a bit buried, and the ones inside either evacuated or were buried with it. I think that "outpost" might have been there either for research or to monitor Death Mountain itself, to be aware of any potential lava flows or to monitor the Gorons even, might be unlikely though. Also, in TOTK, there is a new path that has opened up very close to that area thanks to the halted lava flows, but according to the Goron that guards that entrance, it seems to be very recently discovered or rediscovered path, as the guard says he hasn't seen anyone use it yet, and I doubt anyone will use it for a while, as that path is quite rough, and you risk running into the Wizzrobe further down the path. Daruk mentions in BOTW that Death Mountain hasn't really stirred for a long time, so it might be that the outpost was there Pre-Calamity to help or monitor travelers going close to Death Mountain from the Badlands or going out.

Now that I have my own house with a yard, and a small bit of "woods" (about a small football field sized area of trees), I really want to do some Zelda inspired landscaping, like making a "fairy fountain" or some little "ruins"... Anyone have any other easy (cheap) ideas?

Anything that's mostly earth would be the cheapest. Alot of digging and moving earth. Could build the old man's hut from breath of the wild. The one in the starting area where you learn to chop trees.

I am a little disappointed the Castle Town prison was so utterly destroyed to where we don’t even see what it looks like. Does this insinuate the prisoners were left to die? Or were there evacuation plans for them too?
@Delphae111
@Delphae111 29 күн бұрын
I don't think many people made it out of Castle Town at all. There was no evacuation plans for anyone, in fact part of the plan may have been to have been for people to come to castle town to have a central, defensible position. When the guardians attacked there was no chance for anyone except a lucky few to get out, never mind evacuating prisoners. They weren't so much as left to die, but that everyone did.

The fact that were still ruins left after the Guardian's rampage bombardment is a miracle. I'm surprised that most of Central Hyrule isn't a glass floor...

The outposts were possibly set in areas with former settlements. Merchant routes, trade posts and such. The outposts may have started as military hubs and checkpoints, but I find it unlikely nobody else would settle nearby. Less fortified structures. Wood mostly. things that could be easily burned away or rotted over the hundred year gap. The Outpost Ruins directly east of the Great Plateau was most likely the main military town. It's not too far from the castle, and much more central to the main roads. So very likely that the regular soldiers (not everyone is a knight) would train there, live there, and even work there. It was probably once a small community of its own. I think a deeper look into those specifically could be really interesting. Especially when you look at the map and realize that area is almost entirely devoid of caves. The nearest ones are under the Great Plateau, and under Lake Hylia. This means the area as we see it is as close to how it was even in Rauru and Sonia's time. So that many buildings that close means something major was around there.

Hey HG, at -0914, 1627, 0105 On the Irch Plain, right next to the well is a singular house by the well. Here's the interesting part, you are pretty much lead right to it if you follow the forgotten, but paved road that comes from the Royal Ancient Lab Ruins to the South West. The road in fact, extends almost all the way to the house. Running out just a little bit south of the home. -0973, 1439, 0109. The fact this singular house with a well is located so close to the ancient lab makes me wonder if it didn't once belong to Purah or Robbie. There is a chest burried at the house with a Royal Shield in it, so perhaps it belonged to a captain that used to watch over the lab. Just a thought.

Id say it was Zelda, maybe during her draconification process. If I’m not mistaken, her route goes through it. Also, the map in the forgotten temple displays a whole mountain where dueling peaks are.
