I, even to this day, hope to see a trilogy about the Pendulum Wars; but not now, not in the state that Gears of War and Microsoft Studio are, they would fuck it up like they have been doing for most of its exclusives. I really hope a day we get to see stories and games being developed the right way so that day we can see a Gears of War in the Pendulum Wars being announced

There is potential for a game showing how UIR handled the locust war. Be an interesting way to learn more about them and how they operate

I would love to see a game where the Onyx guard actually gets a moment to shine. I always hate the trope of having an elite unit that only serves the purpose of getting killed to show how tough the enemy is.

Got a couple ideas that might work for telling games lore wise: - Play as a locust drone or Theron Guard fighting Lambent and humans (Standard, COG, UIR). This could be played out just before E-Day fighting the lambent underground and then fighting humanity on E-Day. To expand on this, maybe even fighting other Locust post-Jacinto sinking as it is possible a few locust could have lost faith in the Queen, going from nearly an overwhelming victory against humanity to fighting in the mud to survive like humanity and losing their home in the span of two years surely would make some think about their loyalty and direction. Plus, would be interesting to see their side of the story from a locust's perspective and go into how one could think. If released as a trilogy it could be structured like so: Game 1: Locust Civil War and E-Day Game 2: Operation Hollow Storm Game 3: Surviving in the Wastes If wanted, it could be tied into the sequels where Locust tribe/s somehow survived Adam's device and are aiming to survive. Potential is what could they do story wise? Could Humanity and Locust remnants come to some very uneasy alliance to fight this threat? Do sparks reignite? Does this tribe just aim to stay hidden to avoid annihilation? It has potential. - Play UIR/COG during the Pendulum Wars. In a violent 80 year war, there's gotta be a lot to tell especially with characters such as Adam Fenix and Paduk. Could have a war told from two characters on opposing sides. - Play as a Standard in a horror game - you ain't no Marcus Fenix, you a random guy who's gonna be mulch unless you are careful. This could be an opportunity to revive the horror vibes and atmosphere from GoW 1.

The ONLY thing about Judgement that really gets to me is that the chainsaw bayonett lancer is in service. That didn't exist until around a year after E-Day. Marcus and Tai came up with the idea one day while in a battle and it got implemented into the COG.

The fact they only called the fifth game Gears 5 and not Gears of War 5, goes to show how much Microsoft has dumped on this franchise. Gears of War 2 is one of my fave games of all time.

Im glad they brought Paduk back in Gears 5 , even though he said if they want to stay friends to not see one another again..but this also shows that Paduk was lying about that and actually cared for him. His actions spoke louder.

Now I wish their was a gears of war judgement 2 with a full Paduk and Sofia campaign....

Fun fact, gears 4 was initially pitched as a horror game. As time went on the devs decided that concept didn’t go well with the characters so it was dropped.

The fact that Gears never got any full spinoff games like Halo after the old developers left is shocking. I honestly would like ID Software to make a Halo spinoff that adapts the Ghosts of Onyx novel that stays true to the old Bungie games.

That's really unfortunate to hear cliffs side of the story. As i heard many people say over the years that GOW never needed a sequel triogly(for which I strongly agree) there was so much prequel Era story content untold that could've been introduced into games. An pendulum war base game,the locust civil war,base game prequel story arcs of other characters carmine brothers,sam,jace,dizzy,Hoffman.......etc and I wouldn't even mind a story arc game centered around the stranded LOLL. One thing I will say that judgment did right in my opinion was capturing the feeling of what society looked like before and during E-Day I wished they had expanded upon that more though.

There’s 14 years of the locust war before the trilogy they can tell stories with. Crazy they never utilized that besides a few comics and some books. Time period I would pick would be before the hammer strikes. There’s some awesome moments from the books that would transition well into levels/cutscenes

Getting rid of the original Boltok, Hammerburst, and View/Controls really messed up the sequels from the first one.

i forever wished they made a game about the pendulum wars that could have taken place over years and added other stories to it like how they did for Ramm's shadow in GOW3, and or made an RTS GOW game its sad to see a lot of these franchise's that I grew up with just dying and turning to crap

I always wanted to look into the carmine family (specifically Anthony and Benjamín) as I am a carmine lover of the series and would love a game based on them as well as a game based on the Pendulum wars as that I would love to be commando hoffman as the main protagonist giving him some character development.

The fact that there was no update on a Gears 6 (which idk how to feel about in general) kinda tells you the state of Gears of War and it makes me sad. We need a Marcus Fenix collection or something so we can play these amazing games on Steam or at least at a higher framerate with mouse and keyboard.

Beat the first 3 on the hardest difficulty. Never felt like playing the others. The characters just don't do it for me. Also doesn't help that older games have more detail and destruction.

I would have personally loved to see an Onyx Guard 1st person game focusing on the intensity of combat. Make it in a mix Of Doom and Star Wars Republic Commando. Also comparing the Expanded World building of GOW and Star Wars (4:49) Really warms my heart, 2 of my favourite nerdy franchises.

Gears of War judgment needs a remake fixing the controls, the arcade point system and integrate the side missions into insane difficulty removing the option to select them entirely.

A game with a convoy of onyx guards during the pendulum wars or even early locust war we never saw would be awesome. I don’t think coalition is capable though. Imagine a whole game with onyx and being able to see all the interesting onyx characters and how the devs and creators could design them based off their ranks and specialization in the onyx. We could have new armor and helmet concepts that dive deeper into the rank hierarchy of onyx armor. We could see more helmetless onyx like Sofia Hendrix but only thing I didn’t like about Sofia was her hair which didn’t feel military approved w that dangling bun but yeah more onyx characters could be cool depending on how they tackle character design. The one thing I loved about the OG trilogy was that all the gears felt like professional soldiers you could take seriously which would need to come back in order to nail onyx guard characters. Bad asses that don’t need to say badass things to make you think they’re badasses like when we first see Marcus in the Raven just felt badass the whole tone no explanation or joke needed. I miss character designs like Kim, Barrick, Tai, Valera, Ben, Anthony they just felt like soldiers. Especially Kim being very by the book we need more gears like Kim. The OG characters in the new games got butchered and feel to basic or water down or over done like Cole always saving the day. Cole saves the day again but in a huge mech that was ugly and did not look gear of war to me. We just need better characters and new fresh bad ass characters that feel like gears and take the job seriously unlike Del. Del is just terribly annoying and JD is horribly bland. The Franchise needs stop with the woke bs, ideas and writing or give it to another studio who actually cares about gear of war lore and hardcore fans of the dark gritty trilogy it use to be.

Give me a trucking sim game as Dizzy.

I've always wanted a story like Judgement where we get to see events before the time we know it. It was cool in Gears 4 where they had you play through the pendulum wars a little along side Dom stealing the HOD. They just keep dodging these opportunities to give this franchise better stories.

I think if Judgement launched with more base content, had more mission variety, and base MP felt more like Gears, then the franchise would have gone this direction. I love Judgement, but I see why people hated it

Only thing that would save Gear of War franchise is get it out of The Coalition hands or replace all the Coalition team completely and bring back Cliffy B again, without Ron Fergussion this time (that dude sucks) and a few other OG gears heads that worked on the originals to go along with new game makers that are true fans of gears to work on their IP. Then remake the first 3 gears games top to bottom visuals and tweak the mechanics to go back to an in between version version of gears 2 and 3. This over done wall bouncing where people slide all over the map is stupid and unrealistic. I know I'm saying that in a Sci-fi game but it's true. That's all gears 4 and 5 were, bunch of tools wall bouncing. And its not even they were good at it. But the horrible sales of gears 4 and 5 show it. Looked like Gears of War on ice. Might as well made it a hockey game. Also Microsoft then needs to make it true cross platform so Playstation and PC can buy and play it, not just PC. It would make millions and millions again (that's why they make games, to make money duh) then they can start making cool spin off games that have good stories of they original 3. Instead of the crap fans got in gears 4 and 5.

What the fuck else were they even supposed to do when we really ask ourselves. like i guess they can do prequels but in reality they kinda just did everything they needed to for 1-3. they TRIED to prequel with judgement and look at it... its just weird. my only solution would be to not make a "gears of war" game but to make a "locust something" based game where you play as generals in the locust army and take down soldiers and generals in the cog that died, take over cities that the cog lost etc. This way you could still make epic gears of war like stories but without fucking with marcus and the gang.

A 4 to 5 player co-op Onyx game would have been awesome

I love the franchise, have ever since my dad got me the first game when I was a kid. Seeing how the Coalition has not only destroyed the core fabric of the game but also the community splitting from those who just want anything gears they will take mediocre and those who expect quality when it comes to their favorite franchise really hurts. I would love to see not just Gears but also Halo go back to the glory days of Gears 3 and Halo 3/Reach. I'm sad that I will likely never see them rise to where they once stood, but I am glad to have been a part of the ride and hope that when Anya said that "we finally have a tomorrow" will come to fruition.

All these new games are weird. Not just gears but just in general. Fan: i love gears of war. Dude that game was awesome! Developers: but...and hear me out...what if...there was an item cash shop...AND you can make your character twerk and do the fortnight dance? (There are other problems. Not just the cash shop. Its just the obvious example) Dummies: Oh hell yeah! I cant wait to buy the new Marcus skin! This one has him wearing PJ's with puppies on it! I just unlocked the new anime lancer! Sweet! Nevermind things like, Story. Good Characters. Cool weapons. Cool fights (violence) New monsters. Cool conflicts (meaning the plots or character infighting or what have you) Characters taking the plot seriously. Cool level design. Cool map design (multiplayer) Fun multiplayer. Blah blah blah I guess its just an age thing. Fans: "Back in my day, Gears was cool" Kwel Kids: "Lol you dont get it! Your time is over old man! Gears of war was thrash. Always was. Now gears 5 was the real deal! That Vaguely native american chick that is a whiney, bitchy, incompentent, lazy, selfish, agressive, stupid, A.W.O.L-er is clearly the best thing to happen to the series! You just dont understand! Playing through Gears of War ultimate edition just because i don't want to play Gears 4 and even though im enjoying it I already seeing downgrades from the original. 3 i can list is 1. The rain in Act 3 looks less like hard rain and looks more like it's sprinkling. 2. lambent wretches look less like they're filled with lambent and look like they been drinking lava. 3. That scene where theres corpses everywhere isn't as bloody as the original and they just use the sliced up bodies inside of making new models of humans with their guts out. And some of the body placement are very goofy.

I think either the pendulum wars or a locust perspective on the war would be awesome they nailed it with general raam I'd like to see it maybe like a run of the mill grub squad or a a new unheard "boss"

Imho Judgement is underrated while Gears 4 and 5 are really overrated.

I think a Gears of War strategy game, like Company of Heroes, would be cool. Cover based systems, melee combat from DoW 2, some vehicles and monsters, I could see it working.

They really butchered the series with 4 & 5. The old gears games felt like a REAL WAR with REAL STAKES. Not just JD and Del bickering at each other every chance they get and making unfunny jokes after a gunfight. Also NO ONE asked for a “open world” gears game. if you even want to call it open world…lmao

This might be niche but I wish there was more pve content as the locust since there’s a lot of awesome locust skins but as someone who plays much less pvp, they are next to functionally useless for me.

I always thought that they should do a Halo Reach. A prequel to Gears 1 but on E-day. We got a taste of it in the prologue of Gears 4, that being probably the most boring gears story, the only good part was the E-day intro. Play as a squad of onyx guards or something not 1st person though

I think a bog part of why even Gears 3 started feeling a bit hit and miss, for me, is Cliff Blezinski. He was transitioning out of his Cliffy B persona, and I think he "mature" vibe was the wrong one for Gears. He kinda needed the young, dumb, rockstar energy. Or, perhaps I should say Gears needed that energy. Imo, for Gears to excel, it needs a Cliffy B, not a board room Cliff Blezinski. I mean, 4 & 5 were kinda fine... I actually really like Gears Tactics... but I also feel like Gears 3 was supposed to be the finale, and the newer games aren't really feeling as bad as Terminator sequels or even 343 Halo... but it's also not the same thing. It's I guess more like Fast & Furious starting especially with 5. Like don't get me wrong, I like 5-8 I think I saw? But they're not the same series as 1 & 2, especially lol. And honestly, continuing after 7, especially with the tumors of bringing Paul Walker's Brian back? After his character's perfect finale? Nah. The series should've ended with 7. Or at least, it should've steered away (pun intended) from the cast we had. End with the implication that Brian retired and Dom & his family are still out there doing stuff... And then only do spin-offs lol. Gears after 3 feels kinda like that.

Lots of revisionist history here. Judgement was largely hated by the fanbase, and for good reason. People will say The Coalition’s games are bad, and you know I disagree but whatever you’re entitled to your own opinion, but remember how Epic left the franchise. Judgement did so much damage to the series’ reputation. Cliffy B didn’t even want the game to be about Baird. They only did that after his initial pitch of a game about a team of Onyx guards was rejected.

Kinda surprised the coalition went for gears 4 instead of more spin offs. I know they dont sell as well as the mainline games but when gears 4 was first announced all the talk surrounding it was "how the hell are they gonna continue this story theres nothing left this is a monumental task that can backfire so easily"

Gears 1, 2 & 3 are amazing. Up there with the og Halo trilogy in terms of stories. Although I did enjoy parts of Gears J, 4 & 5. The stories were weak. Pendulum wars/ E-day/ Locust-Lambent war. Plenty of awesome era's to explore with this universe. Gears 4 intro gave us a glimpse of what they could be like.

I actually enjoyed Judgement’s campaign. It was more arcadey with how broken all the weapons were. You could easily take down a Boomer with a snub pistol. It had beautiful graphics, with Baird and Cole in their full glory. Definitely did Baird justice, showing he was a badass way before the first gears.

I always hated how companies get so lost in the mud with sequel series. Halo suffers this same fate. You can always just nail out the main story then explore the universe if you want to milk it for all it's worth. I always wanted more perspective of the pendulum wars or more of the Onyx Guards. Everyone else in the comments has solid points on what could be picked, but instead they fated to just keep going forward some reason with a pointless story no one asked for.
