Accentus Music - new on DVD in September/October 2015 - A Film by Günter Atteln - He is the most performed contemporary composer in the world. And yet he rarely ventures out in public, prefers to keep quiet about his music, feels at home in the forests of Estonia and generates therewith - perhaps involuntarily - the impression of a recluse, which is attributed to him again and again: Arvo Pärt. In The Lost Paradise, we follow him over a period of one year in his native Estonia, to Japan and the Vatican. The documentary is framed by the stage production of Adam’s Passion, a music theater piece based on the Biblical story of the fall of Adam featuring three key works by Arvo Pärt. The world-renowned director Robert Wilson has brought this work to the stage in a former submarine factory in Tallinn. Tracing their creative process, the film offers rare and personal insights into the worlds of two of the most fascinating personalities in the international arts and music scene.

Arvo Pärt is a fascinating and gifted personality. . . beyond words. . . I am so interested to learn about and love his style of thinking and much of the musical impressions and linear sound he creates . . . We are so honoured to have such a person living in our time. . . in my opinion .

One should be careful in attempt of visualizing music of any geniuses, that`s the quintessence of music to be Visualizer in heads of listener's, music is the only Art form which touches the Soul directly through the ears

I Love Arvo's music, I mostly dislike post minimalism. It's like Ellington said there's only two kinds of music.

robert wilson could have at least learned how to pronounce the composer's last name correctly. personally, i find the images wilson sets to the music especially cringeworthy. the music would be better left alone to stand on its own two feet. also the repeated remarks about arvo being the 'world's most performed composer' are especially irritating. for you to hear this music and then talk about things like that tells me you don't get the music.

love the man and the music.. and the film. too bad about the ridiculous theatrical performance (all builders ladders and colin wilson tiptoeing in his socks) - an entirely pointless exercise. 'world renowned' wilson has not 'brought the work to the stage'.. at all. to pair the sanctity and humility of part's work with such a pompous (and preposterous) 'interpretation' is not simply ill-advised, it is a disservice.
