@@Brandonrios365 I can confirm, you had to have high enough completion percentage (something like 75% I think?). Although, if you want to be really technical, Zero Mission wasn't the first time she was "undressed" in 2D. That would be the original game if you beat it fast enough. ZM was just the first time it was the now-iconic bodysuit.

@Mr. Raptor Nintendo at the time actually did have a thing where they were ignoring Diddy Kong in favor of DK Jr for some reason in all non-rare games. They didn't start using Diddy in spinoffs until either Mario Kart/Mario Golf/Mario Tennis on the gamecube. Whichever was first.

Ooof i had invested hours in sunshine and melee back then. I never saw the thropy in my collection, and i don't think meele can detect sunshine save data since it came out first, or maybe sunshine is programmed to detect melee data? Or maybe its just the people tha wrote the guide got some info wrong.

Sadly untrue. I'd beaten both games 100% before, then played some more Melee with friends. I would've seen it pop, but nope. Shame, because I DO know that they could've done it: the Olimar trophy works the same way (minus the "beat the game" aspect), so the technology was clearly there.

Besides the whole "guides/instruction manuals including cut/beta content", Prima game guides are a little famous for having mistakes. Just ask anyone who's read the Kirby 64 one and how Zero-Two apparently resides in Shiver Star. That aside, that DOES sound pretty plausible, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a cut feature and not a goof on the writer's part.

@@ShadwSonic A later Gamecube game, Gotcha Force, also had events where you could get units dropped into your save file without overwriting your save file, so it seems like later games had various ways of interacting with save data that Melee just doesn't

@@rickyrns1059 it's likely enough, but at the same time the guide also featured bugs, such as being able to stand underwater. It's really strange that they tested the final product for bugs to put in the guide, but also included something that they didn't test.

@Louquito MA no, both commenters are talking about asumsaus. But the answer is the same either way, dairanto smash bros. deluxe is just the name of the game. There's no weebness to it, quite the opposite. From a logical point of view, names as a concept are meant to be unique. From a purist point of view, I see no reason to change the names of things. Even if sakurai himself decides to retroactively change the name of an older smash game. In this case, it's just pesky localisation teams with 0 authority, doing insignificant changes with 0 benefits. (Actually the changes have negative consequences)

I forgot that ソース is the katakana'd version of "sauce", read it as "source", and spent several minutes melting my brain trying to make sense of "This source is the best".
