While I do like the first Jurassic World and do think it's better than it's two sequels, I do think the film really Underutilized the I-rex's camouflage potential since it only used it for that one scene and never again. Like the part where Owen, InGen, and the raptor squad end up all having to go after the I-rex could have been for another good opportunity for the I-rex itself to use even more of its camouflage abilities to really make it feel like TLW Carnotaurus.

My headcanon as to why the Rexes steer clear of Carnotaurus territory is not because they are afraid for themselves, but for their young. The size and power difference between the T Rex and the Carnotaurus will force the smaller carnivore to avoid adults and focus on the inexperienced juveniles and young. And with evidence of Rexes being good parents. They are wise enough to know the Carnotaurus' territory and protect their young from getting murdered by them.

I don't know why people misunderstand this dinosaur so bad, maybe it's because of the arcade game, yeah it could camouflage like a chameleon but not like how many people imagine it, people think it could become invisible like a yautja from the Predator series and recently I've seen this again in one of my favorite Jurassic fan animator Ali-Wanda videos, the reason it was almost invisible in the novel specially on that famous scene was because the scene was happening in a very dark place without any light and obviously any dinosaur in such a situation is hard to see and now by adding this ability yes it becomes invisible but it doesn't work every time or everywhere for the animal.
