my family's in between the lower middle and working class. here's some aspects maybe others in my class relate to: - immigrant parents from latin america - bachelors degree from prestigious university in home country that hasn't been very helpful here in the US - kids can't take many extracurriculars because a) how do you afford that / b) who's gonna drive you or pick you up - tons of coupons saved in your purse - kids can sometimes ask for candy or a magazine and get it for free, but other than that you have to buy what you want yourself - little to no allowance, unless you do something particularly useful like revising your parent's research papers for a semester. that's if you're lucky - because of this, christmas and your birthday is of extremely high value for the presents - parents passively care about grades. you definitely need to be passing, but they don't care about straight A's as much as wealthier family members (who's expectations are too high to be taken seriously. they just don't understand) - parents care more about being responsible, making wise rational financial decisions, keeping organized, doing all your chores, never forgetting to take showers, etc

great info! my parents immigrated here when i was 2, and they were definitely working class. i think we're lower-middle class now, but im not sure my mom was a relationship manager, earning most of our income (which is now $80k apparently). she got promoted to a real estate position which pays lower at the moment my dad works retail at walmart, but he gets the occasional journalist gig like twice a year. most of them were freelance, but that changed recently. he's been interviewing a lot lately. i don't know what jobs they are, but hopefully this means a higher income 🙏 they have two kids, me and my little sister. we got our first dog last month!! that's definitely a huge privilege

Nurses should be making $70k + on their own and depending on location, some police officers make great money. Others makes a lot less

0:22 - lowr mid class 30-35% of pop. 0:37 - jobs of lowr mid class...teachers, nurses, police, maybe office manager or administrative assistant that's well paid. 4:51 - working class - about 25-30% of pop. 4:46 - working class make anywhere from maybe $25,000, $30,000 - $75,000. 5:06 - working class jobs tend 2b blue collar jobs or manuel labor jobs like factory workers, electricians, truck drivers, plumbers (female dominated one is a hair dresser), delivery drivers. 7:40 - lots will hav more modest homes in some of the more expensive areas like homes in the U.S. or E. coast. Many will hav oldr town homes, maybe rentin. If in Mid - W., S., or areas more affordable they could probably afford a home. Maybe not the most fancy. (8:11) - 2, 3 bedrooms, maybe garage or not, maybe home will b a littl oldr, may b not in the most prime area.

I read about some poor students who suffered bullying at schooll for being poor very sad thing.

One would suspect culture as a characteristic of class.

It also depends on how many people you have to take care of. A single guy making 25k Quality of life might feel equivalent to a man making 50k if the guy making 50k has a wife & kid to support by himself.

I am from brazil...in usa i would be upper middle class...i read in the wikipedia...i was a pharmacist and worked in a hospital i had a bachelor in pharmacy in the best private university in my state...i used a governement program similar to the united states financial aid and had i have post graduate degrees in clinical/hospital pharmacy,oncological pharmacy and biochemical pharmacy...my mother is high school teacher in a public school my father was a police detective.

I am from brazil since 90's brazil went into a modernization process...i have expanded acess to high education with financial aid programs and affirmative action policies for public universities.

$50k to $100k is not lower middle class , it is MIDDLE CLASS . And there are people who makes 90k who are upper middle class not middle class .

I am from brazil...at least the 70's most people here lived in rural áreas and worked in agriculture...since de 80's the country entered in modernization process and today de class division is a bit like of the united states.

I have doubt about my social class...i was a pharmacist for 10 years and i worked in a private hospital in the oncological sector.I studied pharmacy in the third best private university in my state...i used a educational program similar the finacial aid that have in united states...i graduated in pharmacy and i had make post graduation in clinical/hospital pharmacy,oncological pharmacy and biochemical pharmacy...i paid my debt thank god.However in the past year i was diagnosed with a mental diasese that i know that existed the so called schizoaffective disorder a mild form of this diasese...i become disabled so a retired and become pensioner today i receive $2,290 by month...before i retired i was earning $ 9,000 by month in the hospital.My mother is a high school teacher at a public school she earns actually $7,000 because of time of career...my father was police detective.

You are describing Middle Class, not lower middle class.

You didn't give a WELL DEFINITION of the classes in this particular video.In USA this is how classed are lay up 1)upper class , 2) upper middle class , 3) middle class , 4) lower middle class , 5 ) working class , 6 ) the poor. People who makes between $40k and $100k are MIDDLE CLASS and there are some people who make 90k even 80k who are UPPER MIDDLE CLASS , if they are single and have nobody who depends on them. Lower middle class and working class are between $25k and $40k. And below 25k are the poor
