That delay trick is really cool. I've come to prefer delay on vocals over reverb. I can't wait to try this.

i have a real 1176 and I play with the attack and release to get it to my liking but im also using analog so if I fuck it up that's it no redo's so for a few of my mixes mainly hip pop i use Greg's settings

Question....On the delay buss, are the 2 delay's in serial, or on separate busses, and is it the mono first then then the stereo ping pong? And if you where to use this style, and the delay your using didn't have a high cut low cut, and you used them on the same buss, how would you set that up?

Great tips...but really needs to be balanced in context. NEVER just do stuff. eg if you are already using the rhythmic movement on the extreme L&R, then the ping ping will just make it a mess. Decide on the vision of the mix first. Who owns that space? The vocal is generally the connection point and everything should support that point (unless its for tension/release). Stuff flapping about without meaning does little for a good picture...look at a good photo. Depth of field shots work so well...why? Composition, declutter is the most important thing. Context Context Context Before you add any 'magic settings Even reverb (although these are great tips), eq before the reverb else you are pumping mud into the diffusion (but can be useful for art), Use linear phase for any HP/LP on all tracks as use for a xover introduces no phase distortion. eg If you have a sparse mix and focus on occasional kick or tom, leave the bottom end alone, it creates a great sense of power and make a copy of the reverb WITH the eq for the other stuff...sounds wild and glued Anyway...we are all on a journey! I am not unfamiliar to these concepts, these plugins or to their respective hardware counterparts, where applicable; but how might one confirm or verify the validity of any of the aforementioned mixers using such techniques?
