I asked The Happy Scientist which microphone he uses for such great sound quality in his videos. This is what he said: "If at all possible, mount the microphone slightly above the person who is speaking, instead of on the camera. That helps tremendously. Also, avoid having the person who is speaking being directly in front of a flat surface, such as a wall. A curtain or some other “soft” surface behind the speaker will give you much better sound.
