Great episode! Raja and Mahendran duo is one of the top collaborations in Tamil Cinema. Azhagiya Kanne makes my eyes wet even when someone talks about the song. So surprised to know that the poetic title 'Udhiri Pookkal' was given by Raja. Thanks for reminding some of the rare/forgotten songs - Naan paada varuvaai Thamizhe, Paadudhamma Kaatrin Alaigal, Hum hain akele, Kaise Kahoon (What a lyrics by P.B.Srinivas!), Metti title song Raagam engeyo. That shooting spot of Nandu movie is really WOW! Wish you could have spoken few words about the singer Brahmanandam who has sung the tilte song and sandha kavigal from Metti. Also about Janaki amma's song in male voice - Mummy peru Maari from Nenjathai Killadhe. Pls discuss the songs of other lesser known films - Azhagiya Kanne, Kannukku Mai Ezhudhu, Poottadha Poottukkal in another episode. Cant wait to listen from MM Keeravani and the Telugu contributions of Raja!

Sir I have watched bits and pieces of Uthiripookal but never full movie so after your episodes I watched full movie in one strech. At 1am mid night I cried my lungs out for the last 30 mins of the film.. thank you for these series sir.. As you told about sir and Kamal Hassan watching kannada films in Bangalore and discussing them during their way back to Chennai. Now I understand kannada cinema influences in sir's works! Long live the works of Mahendran sir ane Raja sir!!

You, your father, Ilaiyaraja and the main connection subject - music - is pulling me in my writing. I am literally drinking your stories. A whole life will not be enough to discover the genius in all aspects. In fact we should work on re-releasing HI RES songs & bgm to spend the rest of life to re-re-re discover the details of his composition and hidden secrets. I suggest a podcast from you instead of youtube with more music and stories. An ever ending stories is the love we have for the man. He is coming agin for the 31th in France for another concert just 48h after my birthday. An unexpected gift from the maestro. Vazthukkal sir, be blessed ! and last thing i am sure that stories from your dad must be put on screen, maybe something to be worked on.
