Fifty-two cards: this disordered mess can be ordered with a little sleight of hand and a lot of audience imagination. Magic is all about perspective and misdirection where viewers are as much a part of the experience as the magician himself. Francis Menotti ignites our hidden childlike wonder and stresses its importance in the most unexpected place - full-grown adults.
A full time professional magician since 2000, Francis Menotti has over 30 years experience practicing sleight of hand. Whether entertaining on six-star cruise lines, U.S. Presidential Inaugural Balls or intimate private events, Francis consistently impresses. He has also earned respect as an international industry leader, inventing, writing and lecturing on new magic for fellow magicians. He artfully draws upon his education in psychology, advertising, and theatre to captivate and charm audiences across five continents. He is constantly adapting to different languages and bridging cultural barriers with a universal language of wonder.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

One of the most underrated magicians out there, not only an expert in sleight of hand but also aware of principles for how both the psychology and principles affect performances for laypeople. In this case, he talks of the precondition of laypeople and how it should be challenged.

The idea was that magic are not supposed to be only for children and that, through magi, we can be childlike again: wondered, impressed, transported, happy, and, for the time being, believing that magic magically exists!

This guy is really good. Although some of his moves, especially the coin tricks, are relatively easy to see. Of course, the tricks themselves are not the focus of this presentation anyway.

Coin magic is hard as fuck to pull off clean in front of cameras. Definitely harder than the false shuffles or the cups and balls.

well he aint the greatest magician Ive seen (well at least this performance was not great anyway) but I am also not a late person. I have trained my eyes to catch lots of the moves going on so I do not know how fair it is for me to say that he is not the greatest. But he is genuinely thought provocative and he is taking magic into a really new place. You see that mosts magicians are split into 2 groups. one group that tries to make people dumber by pretending that they have super powers and one that makes people smarter or leave them the same by explaining that are actually tricks. He falls definitely under the second group but his ideology varies a bit. And as a person who loves magic I can say that Im really happy that there are people like him who take the art form in a really nice place !
